Do it or u won't get any of the new gear, I saved up a ton (300 bronze, 320 silver, 240 gold, 145 platinum, 87 diamond) and I played with the update and it didn't give me any of the diamond boxes I earned or anything else

Along with the five normal loadouts, each character gets 2 AI loadouts you can set up and use in multiverse towers by selecting them as you would a normal from player select
