I got stuck in a tree well once. I was skiing in a mostly open run, and there was a blind curve; being the absolute speed demon that I am, I took it at like 25mph. Right after the curve, there were 2 trees really close together, and I managed to not hit either, but got stuck between them in the well. Lost my skis, poles, and gloves, but since I was wearing a bright green helmet, I was pulled out like 10 mins later by a passing snowboarder who almost ran into my head, but was going much slower and stopped in time. Those 10 mins were among the scariest of my life. Nobody was around, I couldn't get out, and breathing was hard since my lungs and diaphragm were squished. I was trying to figure out what I was gonna do when the snowboarder came by, and maybe saved my life. I don't know who he was, but if you're reading this, thanks. I might have died if not for you. If anyone is going to die from something as stupid as falling out of a chair, it'd probably be me. Weird part was the year before the pebble assault I fell in the exact same spot when the dog's leash broke when she took off after a squirrel. Tree wells... when you are in a place like Snowbird Utah that can get over 650 inches of snowfall in a year, that's over fifty feet 50' of snowfall, tree wells can get deep.
