Thank you for recognising the perfection of the finale. I see so many people saying dean deserved better or a more epic death, but he didn’t need it. God himself has been defeated, now life just goes on, so what could they have done that would’ve been more epic than god in one episode, the empty? No, it doesn’t take humans and has no reason to take dean. The truth is, people are butthurt because it’s over and their favourite characters died. But hopefully in time, when people are past the mourning period, they can see the beauty in the episode and deans death especially. We build up these expectations of out heroes so in our head it must be something cosmically powerful that finishes them, so when they die in more mundane ways, such as a rusty pipe/nail, in a way it’s even more powerful of a death because it shows (in deans case) that the work is done. The world doesn’t need saving anymore, he did his job, he can go now.

@@Spud1210 here's the thing: most of us aren't angry or upset about the way that he died (though we make angry jokes about it too of course) but only about the timing. Dean fought so long and so hard for the life with true free will, and he didn't get to enjoy it even a little. His death would be perfectly okay and truly beautiful if it happened after at least 5-10 years time skip, but it happened right after he finally got his freedom and it feels unfair. He deserved better, he deserved at least few years of normal life when the world finally doesn't need saving, he deserved to experience what he fought for.

@@dari9845 I hear that, I do wish they delayed 15x20 until after covid and had a time jump of at the very least a year to let the boys enjoy their newfound freedom for at least a little while. This would’ve allowed them to get the actors they wanted for the finale. That way 15x19 could’ve been the season finale as it’s been called, and 15x20 would’ve been a sort of epilogue. I would’ve loved to see people like Eileen, Jody, Donna, Claire, alex, Garth and the rest of the surviving family at deans funeral and in sams life after deans death. Also the dead ones like Ellen, jo, ash, rufus, Charlie, Kevin, Jessica, Adam, John, Mary and cas in heaven (also Crowley but I know mark sheppard didn’t want to return regardless of covid).

Honestly, rather than a reboot, a sequel with Sam's sons could work well, too. I'd miss Dean (if they had him leave Heaven and return to Earth, that'd be a little cheap), but they could have Sam and (probably?) Eileen in flashbacks to the boys' upbringing.

@@IceMetalPunk if they do a reboot or film without Jensen might as well not do it at all. Sorry.

@@lifestyle7936 That's why I said a sequel, not a reboot. A reboot would feel like an unoriginal rehash, and in a film or sequel they can't really have Dean back without it being cheap. Dean even said as he was dying, "Don't bring me back, that never ends well".

I don't mind a sequel with them showing Sam's life on Earth and Dean's in Heaven.
