SuperSource and Lower Thirds with MixEffect

This video shows how you can use MixEffect and Shortcuts to automatically display lower third graphics when transitioning to different SuperSource presets in MixEffect.

I have to set up a GitHub repo for these lower third graphics so the community can contribute layout files for all of the presets.

Adam, these are great, thanks! I would feel comfortable using these on a show where everything is nailed down as to the presenters, presentation order, etc. I don't know if I would be able to build these presets on the fly for the type of show where things were "more fluid".

Yes, this is not a method for use with on-the-fly shows but ones where you have a set order to your layouts and lower thirds. I have some ideas on how to do this more dynamically, but nothing to announce yet.

Great job Adam 👍 Very well explained. I still have a lot to learn about MixEffect Pro. As mentioned, I’m using an iPhone, as my iPad i very old. It makes it more of a challenge. Which iPad model do you recommend, and you use a keyboard with it as well right?

I am using MixEffect on 2018 iPad Pro 12.9”. I think that is still a really good machine. I also have used it on an iPad Mini 5. I think any modern iPad should be fine. With the Pro, I have it in a Magic Keyboard case.

Hey Adam, another great feature! Thank You! I'm using MixEffect on my M1 MacMini, so is there a way to use Shortcuts to do what you has shown on a Mac? Is there perhaps another (better) way to do it on a Mac? Is it possible to combine MixEffect with Companion to automatically display lower thirds via Stream Deck? Thanks.

MacOS 12 will bring Shortcuts support to Mac, so I hope to get them working on MixEffect. You could use Companion, but you may lose the ability to detect when the DSK is On Air. You would chain together your actions into a single Companion button: DSK Off, SuperSource Preset, set MP still, DSK On Air.

Hi Adam, I have the latest MixEffect but don't don't Lower Thirds functionality in it .... may be I am doing something wrong?

What exactly is the step where you are getting stuck at? Did you look at the shortcut examples in mixeffect.app/shortcuts

@@AdamTow sorry wasn’t able to reply earlier. Found out that lower thirds have to be done using short cuts. I will need to further learn how to do. At a high level seems little confusing to me, hope there is a straight forward way of doing lower thirds.
