It's just roadside manner, per-say. Lets the officer and person being subjected to the search be a little more loose while still being able to disclose if you have anything on you.

it's probably something that they have to ask. when i was 12 i was in my friends neighbors yard and they called the cops on us for trespassing and they patted us down and asked if we had guns/bombs/etc. don't know how a 12 year old kid in the midwest usa would get a bomb rofl.

They ask that to gauge your reaction. It's a semi-efficient way to see if you are holding any weapons.

I went through the police academy and they actually ask that to throw you off your train of thought. It's a surprise question and when you get asked it, your thought of anything beforehand changes to. "what? why the hell would I carry a bomb."

It's up to the town or city what speed limit would help reduce accidents. Which is up to the people that live in that town/city since they pay the taxes in that area.

+Juan Castillo Driving I-95 to work every day I can tell you here the limit is 65, and most people do 70-75. Maybe 1 out of every 30 cars you see are doing like 80-90, but those are just the idiots who weave in and out of traffic thinking going that fast is going to get them anywhere in rush hour traffic. You know, the probably uninsured maniacs in 80's rustbuckets.

Im in chicago and just about all the highways are 55 and very few are 60. Once you get into farm land outside the burbs is when the speed limits hit like 65 or 70. And I think I have heard it is 55 because it is most fuel efficient. But that is something I heard not a fact

Where I live, the speed limit is 90Km/h on the highway, roughly 55mph. Almost everyone drives between 100-110Km/h, roughly 60-70mph. Never seen anyone pulled over. Thank god I live in Canada, we have semi-reasonable cops

FYI Michigan cannot take an out of state license in lieu of bail. Your license is not owned by you, its owned by your state. Michigan has no authority over out of state licenses. Unfortunately legal or not they will just not hand it too you. What you have to do is ask them to call the main barracks of the state police for the state you reside in. When I went through this (I'm from NJ) the NJ state police ripped the Michigan police a new asshole, right on the speaker phone in front of me. It was hilarious.

It was going off plenty early, before the clip even starts, rob was just ignoring it because laser band is often false positive and rob said he was getting false positives all over that day.

I live in Miami fl. On one of our highways the speed limit is 55. Everybody drives 70-80. Another highway the speed limit is 70 I usually drive 90+ never been pulled over.

In New Jersey/New York it's acceptable to do 80-85 on the parkway which has a speed limit of 65... Some cops will let you get away with 90 before they pull you over

Most cops will say "9 you're fine, 10 you're mine." Set cruise at 64 in a 55 all day long. 5 mph isn't going to get you there any faster unless you're driving hundreds of miles, and then you greatly increase your chance of finding a speed trap anyway.

hell, in the 70 mph zones, youll get your doors blown off. people do 85 on the highway. 55 mph zones, youll get pulled over for doing over 10 mph over the speed limit. I usually stick to 8 over and never get fucked with.

Shit last time I was on I-87 in upstate ny, traffic was doing like 90. I thought that was pretty sweet. Almost didn't notice the cop sitting on the median shooting radar at me. He just sat there. Wasn't about to try to merge from a dig into 90mph traffic

In Chicago on the Interstates the speed limit is 55. You can pass cops going 75-80 if traffic flow allows for it.

That was my thought... In GA everybody speeds but I've gotten a ticket for 66 is a 55 before... They allow 10 mph over the speed limit so technically they can give you a ticket for 11 mph over and they DO. I drive down 75 south because now I live in Jacksonville but drive to Atlanta all the time for work... I set the cruise at 80 in the 70 mph zones and pass most people.

They just upped the highway speed limit here to 70mph. The cops don't even blink unless you're doing at least 77 or so. And then you have to either be doing something really stupid for them to bother with the paperwork.

Yea the "unofficial" speed limit is 10 over in CA. I've never been pulled over for that. They definitely pull you at 15 over, though :(

My buddy who is an Ohio State Trooper told me they won't bother anyone for going 8 mph over the limit on the interstate, unless you look suspicious like a drug runner.

I got pulled over for doing 96 in a 55 once and the cop never tried to take my license. Never even gave me a reckless driving ticket just a speeding ticket for going 41 MPH over the speed limit.

It's idiot who drive unexpectedly that cause trouble - slow driving, merging unexpectedly etc. If you are predicable like in the Autobahn are strict rules like get over once you pass. the ticket is your temporary licence, they have all that in the system and will know when they run your name. You have to keep your copy of the ticket until you get your licence back.

You actually don't need to have your license on you to drive a car. So long as you are a licensed driver, they can look your information up in a couple of seconds. So the next time you forget your wallet at home and you're driving, don't sweat it you'll be fine.

First off, telling the cop that you had the speed control set at 69 is PLAIN STUPID to do if the speed limit was 55. You are admitting that you INTENTIONALLY broke the law; there's no way he's going to let you out of the ticket, even if it were just 5 mph above;-- because you INTENTIONALLY set the cruise control over the speed limit. One should never confess to being in a hurry, speeding, opening your soda can, whatever. If asked why you were stopped, play dumb and suggest that you didn't know you were speeding.. Openly admitting it is pure stupidity- you are saying - I INTENTIONALLY AND KNOWINGLY BROKE THE LAW ! In other words, it's a 100% confession to a cop! If the speed limit was 55, and you state that you set your cruise control to 56, I'd bet you dollars to donuts that you'd end up with a ticket. Don't believe me ? Ask a cop the next time you get pulled over .. Getting a lot of speeding tickets does not make you a subject matter expert- it just means that you are the wrong person to be taking advice from.. Maybe it's time to change tactics !!! Getting tickets does not make you smarter- just dumber & poorer for getting tickets and having to pay fines for said tickets. The police are NOT your friends, and are there for safety and for generating revenue thru tickets. Be polite, follow their instructions, but never admit to doing wrong .. Analogy: You are in a prison, and you are taking advice about home burglary from a burglar that has been arrested and sent to prison for the 5th time. While the burglar might be a subject matter expert in not what to do, apparently he does not know what to do to avoid getting arrested and sent to prison. He's probably the WORST mentor to have; what you want is the burglar that has been burglarizing homes for the past 40 years, and has never been caught. Hint: The burglar you want is NOT in prison. Getting two tickets on two days in a row doing the same thing wrong- is a prime example of "Stop doing stupid $h!+" .. Think driving on a different road is going to make things better ? Wow, I don't know about that.

captain obvious on the job^^^ a lot of states its an extra fine for 70+, so 69 could help a little (not the case in michigan, but I doubt he keeps up with all the state fines). He knows hes getting a ticket regardless. He's rich. It really doesnt matter that much. If it did this wouldn't be the 8th video of the series.

Google "Civil Asset Forfeiture"...cops are seizing BILLIONS from the side of the road. Here’s an interesting factoid about contemporary policing: In 2014, for the first time ever, law enforcement officers took more property from American citizens than burglars did. Officers can take cash and property from people without convicting or even charging them with a crime - yes, really! - through the highly controversial practice known as civil asset forfeiture. Last year, according to the Institute for Justice, the Treasury and Justice departments deposited more than $5 billion into their respective asset forfeiture funds. That same year, the FBI reports that burglary losses topped out at $3.5 billion. One caveat is that these are only the federal totals and don’t reflect how much property is seized by state and local police each year. Reliable data for all 50 states is unavailable, but the Institute of Justice found that the total asset forfeiture haul for 14 states topped $250 million in 2013. The grand 50-state total would probably be much higher. really...14 over and you think thats a safe zone for no ticket? In most states 7-8 over is the safe bet for no ticket, like 72 in a 65. Figured being a big cross country driver youd know that. Some how you guys are always doing a good 15-20 over. It amazes me you dont get towed in any of these vids. I still enjoy this series of videos.
