I rent out vehicles and I have a C8. There is a Z06 in my area available for rent and the truth is no one would pay the rental price for a Z06 when a Lamborghini/Ferrari are just about the same, and you can get an (almost) identical car (C8) for much cheaper.

If you pay over MSRP for a car so that you can jump the line and later it drops closer or below MSRP, can you still say it depreciated quickly? Or could it be you overpaid and the market has stabilized?

The problem with the Z06 isn't the car, it's the price bracket it occupies. Anyone able to afford $150k MSRP for a Z06 can also afford $200k+ for a European exotic. Top end spec Vettes have never held their value beyond their first year. Once the people who want one have one, the market always tanks.

This past July I became the owner of a beautiful 2013 LP560-4 Gallardo Coupe. I also own an older Z06 (C6 Gen) which I love. It crossed my mind to buy this new Z06 because price was similar to my LP which I paid 145 plus tax for. Very Happy I went with the Lambo, not keen on having a Vette that’s like a Lambo or Ferrari or at a 150k price point.

Realistically if I was to rent an exotic/supercar type of car it would be a Ferrari or Lamborghini and that's it. The Z06 is an incredible car, driven it a few times but I would not rent one necessarily. I suspect the only cars you ever need for a business like yours like you pointed out are Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Rolls Royces, Range Rovers and S-Classes and nothing else.

You cant auction that car without disclosing non-original engine per NAAA, and selling it to a new customer without that disclosure would probably result in a lawsuit. Im sure theres tons of corvette dudes wanting a car with non matching vins on the motor and car. Its worth more lol sure it is lol.

@ShreddedtotheGills mine had 7,600 miles, paid $40, and didn't even flinch. A 4.10 gear changes everything, and it's a blast. Crower shaft rockers with the valve replacement.

Cars depreciating is not "crazy" It's literally the most normal thing for most of human existence. Especially non limited production cars. People have gotten way to comfortable the past 2 years and now that they can't buy a car and flip it for 50 percent profit are calling the cars "bad" is literally what's wrong with the market and I'm glad shit is starting to hurt. A car enthusiast is some one who buys a car cuz they plan to enjoy it and drive it. While depreciation should be a factor on what sports car you should buy if it's the first and most important factor in your decision then I'm sorry you are not a car enthusiast, you're an investor.

Corvette's aren't boutique vehicles. Every time a new model comes out there is a surge in demand, and then it dies down and you can walk in to any Chevy dealer and buy one right out of the showroom. And they're only valuable to other Corvette people. So on the general market they lose their value rather quickly and level off for a long time. It's a Corvette, not a Ferrari or Lamborghini. Doesn't matter how nice they make them.

the thing about the c8 z06 is that it's a super cool american super car that occupies a price bracket most americans could maybe dream of being able to afford one day but that's its saving grace as a car you would own, not so much for its identity as a rental car. Another thing is it looks dope I mean the body lines are sexy but if you saw this car and you were a regular person (not a car guy) you're probably walking up to this thing thinking "oh man what is it a ferrari or a lambo? Oh... it's a corvette.. yeah my drunk uncle had one of those once it had the same radio as my s10 blazer it's just a fancy chevrolet" It's accessibility and attainability makes it lackluster for the average person as a renter looking for a flashy dream-mobile to clown around in for a few days.

You also have to figure that most people rent cars to show off. The Z06 is coming in at close to Ferrari and McLaren money, and you can rent a C8 Stingray which looks almost the same and performs virtually as well on the street. The practical consumer is just going to go for the C8 at half the price.

If I were renting a an exotic the Corvette would be the last thing I'd be interested in, regular traffic car these days. Sure it's a Z and it's a great car (when it works) but the "wow" "flash" factor diminished rather quickly due to the abundance of C8's on the road now.

Cars today are so badly made and planned to failed to such a degree that i found online someone who coats his ECU in epoxy resin to make it waterproof and it works in summer or winter and doesnt get water issues.he details all steps and testing.

He was charging something like $300 a day for a Toyota Supra you could get elsewhere at $120 a day.....think that might have something to do with it? What fool is going to pay $300 a day for a $50,000 Toyota? Or better yet what fool is going to rent one for that? LOL......

Ferrari keeps it value because Ferrari deems it. They sell such a tiny amount for such a high price that the stock isn't available. Chevy builds to sell to masses, and the Corvette is no different. Ferrari sells 13,000 cars (in total) a year... 2023 Corvette C8 is at 43k sold atm with around 4k being Z06. That is a single model and trim (4k) vs an entire companies sales (13k)

And people are still saying the ZR-1 will be a Turbocharged version of this engine.😂 They are having massive issues with reliability for this NA engine. All of them would blow up if they turbocharged it. All future Corvettes will be AWD and at least hybrid if. It full Electric ⚡️.

i work for chevy, the engine is only having problems cause people are not following our strict break in schedule, you cannot beat on this car the first 1500 miles or it will have user error issues first off!! and second the ZR1 is indeed a twin turbo Z06 engine with 850 horsepower hitting 0-60 in 2.3 seconds and a top speed of 206 mph, and we are not going electric, the next generation C9 in 2029 will be naturally aspirated again

If you see what this guy charges for a rental it is amazing he is still in business at all. Was charging $300 a day for a Toyota Supra you can rent anywhere else for $120 a day at Enterprise car rental (or $75 a day on Turo) and wondered why he couldn't rent it.....LOL.....$700 a day for a standard Corvette --get it on Turo for $140 a day--no wonder he bad mouths Turo is his videos!!

yeah thats how Private rentals work, but your getting much better insurance options, car options, Cars are taken care of very well, and a dedicated line for support if something goes wrong. You Don't get any fun cars on the big company's, and have fun dealing with Turo customer service. I think Turo is awesome and you can get great deals, but you have no idea how experienced the host is and you don't wanna deal with Turo if you have a issue. I actually love Turo its just two different products

@@tyopsie Best way to deal in TURO is deal with a guy who has a track record and rent ONLY new cars with warranty. Also there are small car rental companies that stock about 20-30 cars but will give you TURO rates because they advertise on TURO. Far better to pay $150 a day for a Vette or $400 a day for a Bentley from them than $700-$1400 a day from guys like Mr Spaghetti. I got a brand new BMW for a week with 1,400 miles for $867 with INSURANCE....no way can you get a deal like that from a large car company. Also got an Alfa C4 coupe at $200 a day....One guy had a new Lambo for $900 a day but with unlimited miles.....I should have taken it.

@@superspeeders Good choice on the Z07. That is the only spec I would get. The non Z07 spec looks too plain jane IMO.

weird american stigma. Buy a car based on condition, and nothing else. So many cars are rolled back, or owned by people who have no idea what they are doing, or are poorly maintained. Just because multiple people drive something doesn't make it bad.

@@Videosroblikes have you ever seen how people drive rental cars? I got a rented jeep 20ft into the air soaring over a deep 25ft across canal and almost rolled it on the landing. One time my homie rented a bmw for a road trip and I hit rev limiter in that thing for multiple minutes until it went into limp mode, don't ever buy a former rental car dude I'm telling you this for your own good. oh sorry I didn't realize I was talking to you rob, mannn you know this already stop playing.

I'll say this rob... if you want to look on the bright side.. well, ya generated youtube money bcz ypu had content. And made like a dozen videos on the bullsht with this car. I tuned in to pretty much all. But yeah, im sure you expected heavily.. that it would be far less problematic than most cars but... since its not, silver lining, you got extra youtube content.

You paid too much. Values drop. The math is your mistake. Breaking early. Weird. 1500 miles for full drive tran break in. How do we know it was propeely used. I known you did ok to some degree. Most if not all problems are owner issues.

i work for chevy and 99 percent of the C8 problems are owner error, they beat the hell out of them before the break in causing major engine and transmission damage, my Z06 is perfect cause i broke it in properly

Rob, Are you seeing what the Z06s are selling for? If you’re only asking 130 hit me up. we just sold one with 2500 miles for 180k Mecum just sold one for $240k last weekend. I’m picking up my Z06 this weekend at MSRP. I think you may get around $170k unless the issue you have had may keep buyers away?

no offence but a Corvette is stll a GM car GM car = not exotic at all. if i was a customer i'd get Lambo or Ferrari because realsticaly i'd probbaly never be able to fully afford one.

your wrong, corvette has entered exotic territory, it was there plan with the C8 and it worked, now there building the new ZR1 with 850 hp and expected too be selling for 350k, corvette is now exotic brand
