A provocative webinar from two thought leaders in the field, Benoit Montreuil from Georgia Tech and Thorsten Wuest from West Virginia University. The session was hosted by IISE Global Webinars That Matter and moderated by Scott Sink.
Benoit is the Director of the Georgia Tech Physical Internet Center and Co-Director of the Supply Chain and Logistics Institute. Dr. Montreuil is leading the International Physical Internet Initiative, engaging academic, industry and government leaders worldwide into research and innovation projects on smart, hyperconnected and sustainable logistics, supply chains, transportation, businesses and regions. Dr. Montreuil stands at the crossroads of industrial and systems engineering; operations research; computer sciences; operations, logistics, supply chain, strategic management; and sustainability science. His research builds mostly on a synthesis of optimization modeling and mathematical programming, discrete & agent-based simulation modeling, systems science & design theory.
Dr. Thorsten Wuest serves as Assistant Professor at West Virginia University and J. Wayne and Kathy Richards Faculty Fellow in Engineering at the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. His research focusses on Smart Manufacturing, Machine Learning/Data Analytics, Hybrid Analytics, Industry 4.0, Servitization/Product Service Systems, Knowledge, Information and Data management as well as closed-loop, item-level Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) with a focus on manufacturing systems. In his research, he puts an emphasis on an interdisciplinary and holistic approach towards analysis and optimization.
Thorsten discusses how Business Models are shifting in the face of VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Chaos, and Ambiguity) and in the context of the Transformations that are taking place as presented by Benoit Montreuil.
