Supply Chain Management (SCM), at its core, is an interdisciplinary domain that encapsulates a gamut of activities and processes geared towards the effective and efficient orchestration of the flow of products, services, and information from raw material suppliers to the end consumer. SCM is fundamentally “about the coordination of production, inventory, location, and transportation among the participants in a supply chain to achieve the best mix of responsiveness and efficiency for the market being served”. It is positioned at the “Core Level” as part of the House of Operations Management framework.
