That's actually not what happens in a court of law. No judge would ever tell a person that because the point of a judge is to be the fact-finder. That means finding out the facts. I understand the law is the law, and that's that. So everything else I type is just mild ranting. I don't follow the argument that since the kids "can't do x, y and z activities" with one parent, the other parent should pay more child support. Activities are voluntary and not necessary. Food, shelter, clothing, utilities, transportation, necessary school expenses, health related items and emergency items are a different thing. Those are necessities, and I think necessities should be the only things that factor into child support. I believe the parent who is taking care of the kids the most, should bring all verifiable expenses to court to show the actual monthly expenses to the judge. Then the judge should make the other parent pay half plus a very reasonable "cushion". This goes for men and women.

As a dad who had to fight for his kids tooth and nail in a state that treats dads like a second class parent I approve of this whole heartedly. Real or Fake this needs to happen more often, in what world should any parent regardless of gender be put to the brink of sanity and financial ruin just to be in their child's life or keep them safe. My ex had been arrested 34 times in less than 4 years with charges ranging from cdv, grand larceny, possession, distribution, stalking, violating restraint order to escape and manufacturing methamphetamine....(how she isn't still in prison is beyond me)...and STILL even with all this and her being arrested IN COURT.... twice, and failing 9 of an 11 panel drug screening...I had to jump through hoops and spend thousands just to get my kids away from a bad parent/situation simply because she's a woman. Currently she is almost $10,000.00 in arrears on child support and the court could care less...... I assure you I was never afforded such leniency with support by the courts.....again because she is a woman. I have nothing against women, and some day I hope my daughters grow into strong, independent, and intelligent women....and while I can't have any more children....they can....hopefully if they have sons things will have changed for the better by then.

you might of had to hire a top notch attorney. Also teaching them to be strong and independent is not a good idea- as it wasn't their fault their mother couldn't control her actions.

Women do get off easier in court with child support. I have been in the court rooms and seen it myself. My ex husband is $50,000 behind right now and is still getting off easy really. However a man who had paid more in child support than he had made that year came in because his stay at home ex wife wanted more money. The judge gave him a 15% bump in payment. She didn't need the money she just wanted it and got it. Another woman was $100,000 behind had no excuse for not paying and nothing happened to her. She walked out of that court room like it was just another day. The court systems are way too lenient on women for sure, but they tend to be too lenient period on most of these deadbeat cases. I feel for men in the system way more than women sometimes though, cause I have seen the BS of both first hand.

This is the only one I have disagreed with. She wasn’t neglecting her kids... she was out of town for training on her job. I also think rent should be deducted from her child support payments. She should pay something, but damn!! I guess she’s lucky she can afford it!!

Right, what financial responsibility does the father have to the children if the mother is already paying for the roof over their heads, insurance and tuition? I mean I would think the father could aleast handle the cost of food, clothes and activities. The tuition and insurance alone for two children is already over a thousand dollars a month. Plus paying the mortgage on a 350,000 home if the home is not paid off.

Courts look at it two ways, one is if this couple was still living together raising their kids, what is the percentage each of them would contribute to support the children. If one parent makes a good amount more then the other then on paper they provide more for the children. When I went court, they saw that I was 100% the contributor in our relationship because my ex didn't work, so guess who got screwed? ME. Second, the court looks at the percentage of financial burdens. Like, does one parent pay for health insurance, then they deserve some compensation for taking on that burden for children they both share equally.

@@aliciamobley6961 you might need to watch the video again or read my comment. If she pays for private school, the house he lives in, the bulls for said house and all that. If she simply now said ok fine I’ll pay the 1100 child support she can evict him now between bills and rent he will be paying so much more more then what ever child support he was paying likely even with the new influx of child support. I’d agree as long as she does all that for the kids no one should pay child support. My point is in this case the dad likely lost out by trying to get child support.
