Welcome to our latest KZfaq video! In this video, we'll be taking a look at how the Howa Super Lite groups.
We'll start by shooting 4-shot groups with the Howa Super Lite and you'll get to see firsthand how well this rifle performs.
But that's not all - we've also added a suppressor to the Howa Super Lite to show you how it affects the recoil. You'll see the difference in action as we fire off a few rounds with the suppressor.
So sit back, relax, and join us for a quick video!

I had similar issues with mine, Ive only had it for a month or so. My action was sitting too high in the stock, was only getting around 1 turn on the rear action screw, and the mag was popping out and not feeding rounds. I tested the rifle together without the stock and it worked fine (ie- floorplate/mag bolted to action minus stock). Importer swapped the stock and the second one was much better and get around three full turns on the rear action screw now and feeds fine. Also same issue with magazine not dropping out when action screw was tight, would only work with a loose action screw, I fixed this with a shim under the front end of the floorplate. I traced the shape of the front of the floorplate onto some thin plastic sheet (Coke (soda) Can aluminium would also work) and cut it out, drilled the hole for action screw, this sandwiches between the stock and floorplate and it now works fine even with tight action screws. I cut off 1&1/3 coils off the trigger Sear spring and trigger pull is much lighter now. Havent shot it for groups yet, but the action seems to rock in the bedding without the action screws so Im sure there some stress when the action screws are done up, I am going to glass bed the action as well. Next move though is group rifle with a load unbedded, then shoot same load after bedding to see the difference. Edit to add, I also filed off a little bit of material from the rear bottom of the Picatinny Rail as it too was rubbing on the bolt.

Unfortunate we have to work on the new gun to get it right. Mine got sent in for repair for the ejector and has been there for two months. Gonna call this week to see what it is looking like. If I still have the tight action screw issue, I’ll remedy it myself like you did. Did you have a video you referenced for cutting the sear spring? Was nervous to do it myself.

@@UnevenTerrainOutdoors thats pretty funny I started out with a bergara and the weight sent me down the light weight rabbit hole. I agree though I have the bergara wilderness ridge 308 it functions flawlessly great trigger and phenomenally accurate. Bought it to hunt in Texas my home state ended up working in New Mexico and Colorado hunting allot of the same areas you do in your hunting videos and it just seems like im lugging around a anvil and the safety gets bumped off often in the brush while I don’t carry it loaded it is still a bit concerning. I like the weight and three position safety on the howa I really don’t like the detachable magazine honestly prefer a blind bottom probably the main reason why I haven’t bought one. Thanks again for all the info its good to hear another hunters unbiased opinion on a rifle since its a significant financial investment.

@@jack9216 oh funny! Did you have just the wilderness ridge or the carbon model like me. I went the carbon route since it was lighter than the standard model but still comparably priced to the howa when I originally purchased it. I do prefer the 3 position safety on the Howas as well. As long as the magazine is flush with the bottom, I am okay with it. But I do prefer the bottom metal. Same reason I didn’t go more expensive and get the all carbon bergara. I don’t want a mag that sticks out. Just a heads up, I haven’t done my weights on the bergara but bergara told me the stock on the Wilderness Ridge Carbon is 2-3lbs. So replacing the stock with the carbon one is in my future. Since it sits on the Remington 700 action, a Christensen FFT stock would fit on it and that’s only 1lb 7oz. Lots of research has been going into finding the right rifle. Lol

@@UnevenTerrainOutdoors the standard I bought it a while back not sure if the had a carbon option at that point but don’t quote me on that. At the time I bought it I wasn’t worried about weight at all I was working in South Carolina hunting pigs and white tail both there and Texas it had a shorter barrel which I like for the thicker brush and box blind hunting we do in the south. But coming out west man I like to put on the miles by the end of the day that rifle feels like a dumbell at the end of the day I may just leave it at the farm house back home it’s perfectly suited for there. The weight is incredible. I wouldn’t want to go back to lugging around a heavier rifle. I always like to have a rifle with me for mountain lions and now I don’t question taking one. It shoots good enough for me and the distances I shoot. Follow up shots I have noticed are tough. Lose sight picture. Despite that though, if everything worked as it should I would not think about a different rifle. I really like it.

@@UnevenTerrainOutdoors very happy to hear that. I’m from the UK, so it would be for hunting roe deer to 500 yards maximum and the use of a moderator (suppressor) should minimise recoil massively as well as a bipod in 6.5cr. I think you’ve helped me make my mind up!

Well this was the last video I did before sending it in for repair. Dropped it off Mid May and they just got back to me. The issues I had, they were able to fix but when MOA testing it did not perform the way it should. They will be sending me a new rifle. I am highly considering a Christensen Mesa FFT and recouping some of my money and selling the Howa I get. But it is still really hard for me to decide. Having the Howa rifle and packing it in was so nice. I could and did carry it everywhere with me. May or may not be helpful. If I could recommend anything about the Howa is buy the second versions of the rifle. They come in grey, green, or tan stocks. Why? I think they realized they had problems with the first round of production and quickly came out with new ones. No experience with them from me, just a hunch.

You can fix the magazine ejection problem pretty easily removing a bit of material from the front edge of the magazine well. I ended up buying a Super Lite as well. The one that came (couldn't inspect prior) had a defective rear trigger guard screw hole inletting. Basically a chunk was missing, which made it impossible to torque down the rear trigger guard as the flimsy trigger guard plastic would go into the hole. Howa (Legacy Sports) replaced the stock for me rather quickly. Unfortunately the stock they sent was not properly inlet for the rear trigger guard which caused the rifle to not feed properly as the magazine/trigger guard were 1/8"+ proud. I fixed the inletting with some careful material removal from the rear trigger guard inlet, and now everything is functional. I probably could've sent the whole rifle back to be fixed but who knows how long they'd have it for, and I leave for my first hunt in late-July. Needless to say this is not an ideal experience for a new rifle. This rifle would be the perfect backcountry rifle if Howa/Legacy fixed the QC issues with the stock, and ditched the flimsy trigger guard/bottom metal. I thankfully don't have the ejection problems that you have.

notice how you are almost the only person on youtube reviewing this rifle. makes me wonder if non of the big channels aren't because they don't want to have a 100% critical video. the howa action and barrels are great, i just dont think they can get their stock suppliers to give them the quality these rifles deserve. also any of their plastic drop box magazine are horrible. mine came with both dbm and bottom metal. i swapped out for the bottom metal instantly because of how crappy their 5 round magazine was. if you just bumped the release the mag would fall out. not to mention it stuck out like a 10 round magazine but only hold 5. bad design!

The problem with led sleds especially in this scenario is your changing the barrel harmonics and not allowing the gun to get into its own rhythm. My dad like led sleds but I never and won’t use them. I don’t have a channel so I’m not trying to be critical of you, considering you get on here and make this stuff and have to put up with comments… That said, within the first minute or two of this video I knew there were going to be issues. A sled should never be used…can cause all kinds of problems to a rifle/scope/action screws/receiver screws, etc. Secondly, how are you going to take a pencil thin barrel and run 4 and 5 shot groups? It’s going to be bad always…it’s just science. There’s not enough metal there for it to stay true to point of aim. This is a rifle where you shoot cold bore, let it cool, shoot cold bore, let it cool. Maybe a 2-round group if you want to see what a follow up shot looks like. I think a lot of people forget the point of certain hunting rifles…not everything has a bull barrel and is meant to take to a PRS competition.
@UnevenTerrainOutdoors
@UnevenTerrainOutdoors 10 ай бұрын
Yeah unfortunately that’s just something you have to deal with whether you put out good content or not. Haha I had borrowed a sled so I didn’t have people ripping me. Reason for doing the faster 4 shot groups is because the rifle can hold 4 rounds. Granted it should never be shot that many times like you said because of the barrel. But when you get out in the field and need to use all 4 rounds, be good to know how it performs! Some of the groups here there was a waiting period for cool down because the barrel did get hot. That’s the unfortunate part about editing, I edit that stuff out to save time.

So many problems with this... Your shooting an ultra light rifle and clearly dont have the basics of marksmanship down. Hand on the scopes a poor method as the varied pressure changes point of impact. Shooting in the lead sled also is also bad for accuracy as it doesn't move like a shoulder does it also turns all the recoil force into muzzle rise and puts a ton of stress on the stock. Your zero will change significantly with the sled. The video really tells us nothing about its accuracy. On the other hand seems like its had plenty of other issues so good thing it went back. I've been running Kimber's for year sand the learning curve was huge and I still lean towards the smaller chamberings or running brakes to make them more shootable. Most people dont need a lightweight rifle or benefit from one. If your not doing 3000Feet plus days on the hill just take a nice 8-9 pound rifle thats much more shootable.

Not a perfect shooter and never have claimed to be. But also never had issues before. Had people complaining in the last video while shooting off a bipod so figured using a sled people would complain less. Yeah I had plenty of issues and in the end they replaced it with another rifle due to it not meeting their MOA guarantee.
