A President who is worried about being sued or hauled into criminal court over decisions he or she makes AS PRESIDENT would likely not make the hard decision in such cases, hindering the President from carrying out their oath to support the constitution and protect the United States from all enemies foreign and domestic. Put in terms you will find more palatable, it means that Joe Biden cannot be hauled into court for sending Iran

So everything is official if you run it through the executive branch, the president can’t be held accountable but he also can pardon anyone…like a subordinate he commanded to commit a crime. This newsstory is inaccurate. The Court ruled that a President has absolute immunity for official acts while in office, not "some" immunity. There is no immunity for unofficial acts, so in that sense, "some" immunity does apply.

Anchor spoke of going back to the Oral Arguments however they only specifically quoted the dissenting opinion from Judge Sotomayor TWICE! They did not read directly from the majority opinion. Very balanced coverage. Covered "frustration" for Democrats also. Anchors also seem disappointed that the ruling means the trial isn't happening prior to the elections.

No they didn't unless it limits Trumps power as a dictator if he gets elected . since the founding of our Country This law was never needed till a criminal mind became president, It opens the door now to arguing what can be considered a official act as President, So Trump gets elected, Someone runs against him 4 years later. He gets it in his mind the person is a Russian Agent when that is not true. Trump will have him killed then later say it was an official act because he was protecting our country from a foreign agent taking the country over. Does it matter if he was wrong? No the guy is dead and nobody else will ever want to run against Trump. And if you think Congress won't defend him saying well it was his official duty because he ordered the killing when he believed he was protecting the Country, so it is not a crime because it was an action of official business, as he thought was protecting the country. I've long held an opinion that the judiciary was always the least-thought-out, worst-defined branch of government defined by the Constitution. A panel of persons appointed with (1) nearly zero accountability, and (2) nearly unlimited power to redefine where a given law can or cannot be applied. This decision was 250 years in the making.

Trump wasn’t responsible for people going in the Capital, and every president has removed “classified” documents on departure. The “hush money” was an NDA they turned into a campaign finance charge…which was ridiculous. The fact this even had to go to the Supreme Court after 250 years shows you the insane levels democrats will stoop to, to stay in power with the weakest (and frankly sickest) presidential candidate. I’m shocked the democrat voters don’t hold their party to any accountability for propping up Biden when he clearly isn’t fit to run anything.

The ruling goes beyond Fitzgerald in its expansion of what constitute immune "official acts" as well as a president's rights to define "official acts" beyond the traditional scope (I hope Biden understands that this ruling applies to him as well as to his adversary). It is muddy, incoherent: typical Federalist Society logic that merely complicates, but doesn't transform, the legal understanding of presidential power. Beyond the possibility that the Republicans will use the presidential power to imprison (even assassinate) rivals and employ the military to seize power---and that possibility has been with us since 2016----all the Leonard Leo justices have really done is create a permanent instability and inefficiency, forcing matters to go through the appellate system them back up to the Court, in an endless game of round robin. It's more radical than it should have been, less radical than the Republican fascists are triumphantly claiming.

The problem with the ruling isn't what is considered an official act, but where is the line between Presidential Candidate and President. In this instance, Trump wasn't acting as President in order to overthrow the election of 2020, he was acting as a Presidential Candidate who had lost and throwing a tantrum USING the power of the Presdiency.
