I'm 64 years old and I've served my country. I was born in Texas, raised in Alabama, and living in New England for the past 33 years as a professional artist. I have come to the conclusion that almost everything I've been taught to believe about my country that I love is a lie! Our system is not working for the people. From the police to our president, the system is corrupted and protective of the well-connected and wealthy. We pay the bill. We suffer their injustice. And everything is business as usual. Am I wrong?

As someone who has yet to reach 30, my peers and I are coming to the same conclusion. So many of us are seeing this broken system and have no idea what to do about it. We do our civic duty; we vote in every election (local, state, and federal) and educate ourselves on as many issues as we can but have become so jaded in our system the last 10 years. The number of times we’ve all ‘half joked’ about moving elsewhere is higher than we’d like to admit…..

Robert Borks criminal complicity in the Saturday Night Massacre speaks to what he was willing to do to get ahead, even try to cover up the biggest White House scandal of the 20th century. But you can also thank Bork for the rise of monopolies and the bankruptcy of Main Street too. He was influential in getting the GOP to abandon the Teddy Roosevelt “trust buster” approach to domestic economics in favor of the oligarchy monopolies we are stuck with today.

wrong. this was very biased. And if you watch other documentaries on PBS you will see even more obvious bias. The best one is the one they did about the "surge" in Iraq. They look like idiots after that one and yet they still never went back and apologized for all of the ignorant biased bs they put together in that one. Another example is the trump one where they show portions of his comments that did exactly what the daily news feeds did. They don't show the whole comment because with the context , it completely destroys the spin they are intentionally trying to bs people with. PBS is left wing propaganda and it is very very obvious.

So, I'm 16 minutes into this story and I sit and ask myself, " where do the average, everyday working class American citizens factor into all of this?" This has nothing to do with the United States of America and her citizens but EVERYTHING to do with the two major political parties wrestling for control. Very disheartening.
@williamevans7726
@williamevans7726 2 жыл бұрын
Very, very true.. Politics on the local, state, national, & international level --- is ALWAYS about individuals & political parties acting in their own self-interest regardless of the actual needs of working class people.. It's always been that way.. All things considered, common sense tells me this will NEVER CHANGE.. The behaviour of career politicians is truly a despicable thing to witness.. They think of everyday hard-working Americans as "SUCKERS"; and have no concern whatsoever for anyone who isn't a "large political donor", or principal member of a "special interest group.."

McConnell was wrong to block Garland. This “documentary “ is actually biased to the far right by making it appear the Republicans were justified in scorched earth judicial politics because “the Democrats started it”. The Democrats were justified in blocking Robert Bork. He was criminally complicit in trying to cover up Watergate. He is also instrumental in changing American economic policy to favor monopolies over small family businesses. His efforts are party responsible for why Main Street is bankrupt and Wall Street is your oligarchy. The Democrats didn’t “start it”. @@southernbanker1946 Its not going anywhere near 'that'. The 'progressives' have fallen heavily out of favor in the Govt. There is a better than average chance Pelosi won't even be speaker. House Democrats just saw almost 15 of their fellow democrats lose their seats. The Senate will stay in GOP hand, at least for now. The senator from West Virginia Joe Manchin has already stated he is against the Progressives in Congress as are several others. The democrats are hurting because this 'blue wave' that was supposed to happen didn't. In fact, the GOP gained several seat in the House, so far and the Senate GOP only lost 1 seat so far, chances are there will be no more loses. Trump got almost 40 percent of the African American Vote which is just incredible. IF the democrats try to go too far to the left, in 2 years you will see another 1994 or 2010 again with huge GOP gains. Trump still has a chance, better than 50/50. Guliani has a lot of documentary evidence and video evidence of election 'irregularities' to present to the Federal Judges that the appeals are going to end up in. Its all Ultimately going to the Supreme Court anyway. They are gonna 'rule' on this or they are gonna not hear it at all which I cannot imagine will happen. The Dominion Machines is the issue so IF Guliani has the proof he says he has Trump's Chances are looking much better but no guarantees. So take a major chill pill. Its not over until its over.

The constitution isn’t black and white. It’s very general and what it does or doesn’t allow is opinion. Judges interpret based on how they evaluate law. Thus naturally the way you interpret law (strict textualist vs living constitution for example) is inherently an opinion.

The Democratic-Republican Party, better known at the time under various other names,[a] was an American political party founded by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison in the early 1790s that championed republicanism, political equality, and expansionism. The party became increasingly dominant after the 1800 elections as the opposing Federalist Party collapsed. The Democratic-Republicans later splintered during the 1824 presidential election. One faction of the Democratic-Republicans eventually coalesced into the modern Democratic Party, while the other faction ultimately formed the core of the Whig Party.

If Mitch McConnell is an example you are more than Correct. The World in which Mitch McConnell resides is Toxic and Reeks of Nepotistic Exchange (Russian Oligarchs, KOCH Brothers, James S. Chao/Elaine Chao). McConnell refusal to even allow GOP Members to meet with a Moderate (Judicially) was a case Study in Lies, Distortion and his Desire to Orchestrate the Supreme Court (as if nursing The Koch brothers Citizens United vs Federal Election Commission through the Supreme Court wasn't a sufficient source of: Greed, Power and Political Corruption). This SCALE of men and Political Exploitation isn't dishonest, it is Traitorous. GOGGLE McConnell/ Len Blavatnik (donated 6.5 Million to the GOP With 2.5 designated to "McConnell's Leadership Fund". MIRACULOUSLY the Sanctions on Russian Oligarch Oleg Deripaska (associate of Vladimir Putin) were Lifted and a $200 MILLION DOLLAR Investment in Len Blavatnik Rusal Corporation was made by Russia Oligarch Deripask in McConnell's home State of KENTUCKY. Then recently released (1,000 page) Senate Intelligence Committee Report (Bipartisan) makes BLATANTLY Clear the depths of Our Nation's Corrupt McConnell and the McConnell Controlled GOP has SANK this Nation. Sorry, but the stakes are too high for the right. They have increasingly been on the ropes since FDR win in 1932 and began implementing the New Deal to cope with the immense economic depression. Repubs and other conservatives were aghast at the overt violation of the traditional American expectation of near-complete self reliance and swore on the BIBLE that they would take down New Deal liberalism and any other form of socialism or socialist-capitalist hybrid. Fast forward to the 1950's and the Cold War, when the politically menacing Soviet Union was on the March through the Third World, exploiting outrage over centuries of colonial oppression. In reality, the USSR could have cared less about "liberating" TW people from the miseries of colonialism; they just wanted to acquire client-state allies in key locations to give the USSR a strategic military advantage they could use in an attack to destroy the U.S. and then have free access to all the resources the Soviets needed but could not afford to purchase with their hard line socialist/communist economy. Understandably, the right deeply mistrusted and feared the USSR and anyone who appeared to sympathize with or adopt a permissive stance towards socialism, communism, and even moderate politically DEMOCRATIC liberalism.I So, here you have it. America's insoluble political troubles stem from our deeply devout and conservative Christian heritage, resultant belief in self-sufficiency and individual responsibility, immense, existential fear of all non-conservatism, and also, moral disapproval and mistrust of African-Americans, LatinX persons, and Native Americans. We'll just have to see what comes next, won't we...

M* H* with the profound belief in my fellow American citizens I believe we will overcome what I believe are the Trump radical, near Nazi style, followers. They are politically looking back to - for them - more comfortable society of those “people in their place” attitude. I prefer to move forward politically where each of us recognizes our own responsibility for ourselves, the environment including our neighbors. We don’t see ourselves as entities to ourselves but in a common interest for the safety and humanity of all humans that we recognize each individual is a member of ONE RACE: the human race. I reject the idea of subhuman species of man. Thus, our common welfare is universal.
