May you should bend the sheet metal in the shape of an "M". Than flatten the material around the ears again, so the metal gets compressed and not streched. Greetings from Germany.

Kobayashi really did an excellent job of replicating it, really a talented artist! Considering Sobi recorded that he failed several times before being able to make it work, I’m sure it would only be a matter of time and patientce for Kobayashi to replicate it without the metal tearing- great video!

He’s using the wrong hammers and stakes. He needs to start the points of the ears way farther apart and move more metal inward from the outside. He should have made a copper version first to learn the basics of chasing and repoussé. Also, learning proper annealing and quenching is the foundation of metalsmithing. Yes, a rabbit is a difficult shape. Yes, iron is difficult to work with. But he’s making some rookie mistakes here, he’d have had an easier time if he’d just flipped his hammer around and used the cross peen side to elongate. And making some chasing punches. And doing some repoussé. Try hammering on some pitch or some modeling clay instead of hammering directly on a stake, which is going to make your metal way too thin and brittle. Plus, start with some thicker material. And anneal, anneal, anneal. You can feel when your piece is work hardened! Pushing it too far too fast will always crack the metal. His face trial came out nicely, though.

Wouldn't you start the ears further apart, then instead of thinking it will pull closer before shrinking?

And he should learn how to anneal properly

Probably cracking due to not annealing the Metal periodically

I think its just that this was originally broadcasted in japanese, and the narrator is just trying to match the inflection of the original narrator- i agree though, he’s doing too much 😂

Over the top narrator commentry voice is very tiresome and more suited to a comedy game show. Watched it with the sound off.
