Masha'allah, I had the opportunity to listen to Sheikh Abu Bakr Al-Shatri live when he came to my uni to recite 2/3 years ago. Subhana'Allah his voice gave me shudders and I was in tears. May Allah swt reward him ameen.

No, some say a man is not allowed to recite in a tone which sounds like a ladys voice. When i said to this maulana that i liked this guys recitation, this is what he said to me. I think he meant if u have a manly voice then u shouldn't recite with a high pitched voice. Allah knows best.

Salaam. MashaAllah. Truly amongst the best recitations i have ever heard in my life. (My fav is Surah Maryam) For sure their is a soothing in the beautiful recreation of the Holy Qur'an. It has a comforting effect upon the heart and speaks directly to the soul. Allah bless the Shaykh and grant him long healthy life. And We send down of the Qur'an that which is healing and mercy for the believers, but it does not increase the wrongdoers except in loss.(The Noble Qur'an - 17:82)
