The first part is about zakariyya who was a relative of marys parents. He was a prophet and he had grown old (white hair, weak bones) and his wife was barren so they had no children, in his supplication he asked for a child, and Allah gave him glad tidings of a son-john. John was basically a cousin of maryam, only a few years younger than her. The second part is about maryam a.s later on giving birth to jesus without any man touching her, completely chaste. Zakariyya had also become maryams guardian when her mother hana gave her to be in service of the temple from a young age. He basically raised her. And he saw the miracles e.g her recieving fruits of different seasons from God, this inspired him to make that dua for a child and it was answered. So to summarise: Imran and hana had a daughter-maryam, who was in service of the temple because her mother had given an oath to Allah if He grave her a child, not expecting it to be a girl and then prophet zakariyya and his wife had a child john/yahya who was also a prophet and then maryam had a child-jesus also a prophet.

I am a Malaysian,a Muslim and a girl named "Maryam" I'm not going to tell you my full name but I will tell you my first name of my full name is "Maryam".And whenever I hear somebody says that name or I see the surah in my quran I always feel proud because I have the same name as the whitest,kindest never done anything wrong and seriously the most perfect woman on earth. She is also the mother of a Rasulallah named "Nabi Isa".

The barren wife of zachariah in juda-christianity is called elizabeth... she has not been mentioned by name in the quran

@@hodysensei3438 the mother of Jesus. She is the only women mentioned by name in the Quran. Her story is told in many different verses, and the 19th chapter of the Quran is also named for her. The best Women 👍 but there are other women that god mentioned in quran like Sarah wife of Abraham and his second wife Hajar. and the wife of Pharaoh (Asiah).the wife of Noah and Lut they are not mentioned by name but they are there and there are 124,000 Prophets sent by God and only 25 are named in the Quran.

It is interesting to see how people can take a part of the belief of another person and accept it but the other part they make as if they don't see it. The bible is the WORD OF GOD and whatever you will say or write, it is just you don't have the Spirit of God to understand it. Jesus says if you believe in Me you have eternal life and if you have seen me, you have seen the Father too. Muslims don't believe in Jesus, they said so to look like Christain and Jews hmmmmm but the truth is if you take Jesus from their mouth .lot of People will not really follow Islam but when you said so, it looks as if we are not so different. The truth is both books are different even the story of Adam from the beginning is not the same at all.If you are able to understand the Bible then you will realize that everything is done and there is no need to send a last messenger: Just imagine now if God Himself was here and give you the last message and after He is gone you have someone else who come and tell you I have another last message from God for you...... You know how humiliating it is for Him because at the end of the day you still don't believe He was here with you.

1:20 قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي وَهَنَ الْعَظْمُ مِنِّي ... He said: "My Lord! Indeed my bones have grown feeble..." meaning, "I have become weak and feeble in strength." ... وَاشْتَعَلَ الرَّأْسُ شَيْبًا ... and gray hair has Ashta`al on my head, means the gray hair has burned into the black hair. The intent is to inform of weakness and old age, and its external and internal traces.

You can read Quran in any order, holy Quran wasn't revealed in one day, it was revealed in 23 years on prophet (pbuh) so it has many different stories about old civilization, some of it to warn, some of it to remind us to worship Allah, you can read Quran in any order and it will always fascinate you.. Can I suggest a Surah for you to react to? (Yousuf) ... May Allah bless you and guide you in the best month of the whole year.. Ramadan..

White is white hair. Here Jakarya PBUH is emotionally asking Allah for a child. He says that his hair has become white or gray (meaning he has become old.)

The story begins from the birth of John then a more miraculous birth of Jesus. The birth of John was miraculous too because his parents were aged, but that of Jesus was more miraculous because he had no father. May God be pleased with them.

White refers to his hair. He has grown old and grey. . It's what we call greying today but back then they would have called it white.

My head has filled with white: can be simplified to like this "As you age, the hair cells start to die. Without pigment, new hair strands grow in lighter and take on various shades of gray, silver, and eventually white. ". Allahu walam.

At the beginning, it is talking about the birth of John (father is Zechariah who grew old, has WHITE hair, and a barren wife). Few verses later it talks about the virgin birth of Jesus (mother is mary).

My head has filled with white means his head is all gray hair (ie he is a very old man). The beauty in the language is that if you translate the arabic literally, it’ll be “my head is aflame with old age” depicting a head that is aflame with white? I don’t know how to explain it and it probably sounds weird lol, but you know when something is set aflame? How fast and vast the flame spreads? So it’s like depicting and exaggerated image to show how old he is and how he is expressing that.. that kind of thing? I wish I was better at explaining and translating lol

The beginning of the surah was about proohet zachariah and how he got a son prophet yahya (john) while he is old. The story of maryam and the birth of Jesus is another story within the time of prophet zachariah.
