Surdarshan 'Sunny' Singh Chana is an exponent of tabla and jori. He studied under Bhai Gurmeet Singh Virdee, in whose memory Darbar Festival was founded, and also studied with legendary Benares maestro Sukhvinder Singh ‘Pinky’ for 14 years. He is known for his expertise in dhrupad and knowledge of rare rhythmic compositions.

@@darbarfestival no need to appologize, it was just a friendly tech comment :) and perhaps a bit subjective, however it seems, that bayan overpowers tabla. perhaps it is better this way than in lots of other channel videos, when tabla eliminates bayan almost completely. i listen to music on older model of monitor audio silver series 3i speakers and sennheiser hd200 headphones, neither of both are ''bassy'' by themselves. i've seen almost all your videos and they are best looking and best sounding out there anyway, big thank you!

Having seen various great performances live, in the presence of great ustaads, unfortunately I think surdarshan has a long way to go. This comment is made with the utmost respect, however, his hand just does not have enough jaan in it. There is a lot of fast tapping or tabla tickling. Also, if he focused more on spirituality, it would improve his playing further. There is a certain emptiness and lack of command in his playing.

Would love to see you on that stage, so how much better you could perform. 'Fast tapping' & 'tabla tickling' shows you definitely don't have the 'utmost respect' for him. Instead of making baseless points putting others down with un-constructive criticism, you should probably focus on honing your craft, whatever it is. Makes me think your craft is probably hating on people through the internet.

Now lets try to be a little more dynamic. This tabla is boring so to speak (its always been an accompanying instrument anyway but my god), you can play all these nice things but if it sounds boring it's pointless. No musicality to it. But on the whole well played. Like another comment below their is some emptiness...….. its almost as if he is demanding claps from the audience without even earning it, and that's the way to an early retirement.

Mate I'd like to see u learn for 30+ years then go on that stage. The fact u commented this shows ur a keyboard warrior and I know nothing about Indian classical music. So take into account ur own skills and the fact that people pay to see tabla solos which in turn disproves ur comment.
