Surf Fishing for Sharks and Bait

In this episode, Josh kicks off the day fishing for blacktip sharks using lures. After a few hours and no hook-ups, Josh decided to switch gears and catch shark bait. There was a lot of bait and sharks in the water, but the sharks were fixed on live bait. Josh was using a double hook rig with squid for bait. The first fish that was hooked got eaten by a shark. The second fish was a bonefish, which was a huge surprise! After catching over a dozen blue runners, Josh decided to try fishing for sharks again. Within a half hour, Josh hooked to a feisty blacktip shark. After a five minute fight, the shark shook the hook. Josh did not get any more shark bites after losing the shark.

Nice catch. Definitely something to strive for, but sitting on the west coast of Florida dealing with that Okeechobee freshwater dump. Watching snook, sheepshead and snapper dead in my buddies canal.

I fish that exact same way except in MD we have spot or mullet. I don't catch them at the beach but before hand earlier in the day I have a giant bait cage/well or whatever you want to call it that sits in the water and keeps em' alive for days. Nice video Josh!!!

What's your budget for a setup? Live crabs and mullet are great bait. Dead mullet on the bottom will also work.

What you think bout using a penn battle 6000 50lb braid and trying to look for a good rod that's not expensive that can be used on a kayak for some light outfitted setup and leader prob 80mono or fluoro but don't know to use for wire or hook size. I just want to go for the smaller sized sharks.

I was wondering if you could help with some gear recommendations? I have an 11 ft Daiwa beefstick and a Daiwa giant spinning reel. I wanted to know what line would be the best. I currently have 80lb power pro on it but I think it's a little over kill. I'm on a little bit of a budget too so the less expensive the better thanks!
