The last hub extraction key would be nice to drill a (half ball bearing diameter) depth hole up the threaded end. So a ball bearing can be captured and used as a hardened slippery surface to press against the drive shaft.

thx lee i purchased the harig super 612 just like yours and your info to make the screw nut to break the taper came in real helpfull thank you kindly for posting that. i forgot to mention my 612 harig came with a walker control and a suberban 6x 12 mag chuck a 4000 dollar option.

Hi Mr Lee, My dad was a machinist and recently passed. I have a surface grinder and the wheel seems to be locked. Maybe it needs oil after watching your video. But I feel like maybe there’s also a safety lock I’m not aware of. I have a lathe, wet band saw, drill presses and more to sell. I’d love your advice on these items, what they are worth, if you can share my info with people in this line of work? It’s all located in Little Rock, AR. Any response is very much appreciated. I wish I had inquired more about his line of work as I got older but I went into the Airforce right after high school. I did plenty of band saw work when i was in grade school. Lots of templates. I would expect that the oily part on the wheel is because the grinder was ran with coolant, and the last time it was ran, the operator didn't let the wheel run dry after the last job to dry it out.

Awesome video and thank you for sharing this with all of us. I recently bought a brown and Sharpe surface grinder and it did not come with a wrench or puller for the wheel. Do you happen to know where I can purchase arbors for the wheels or if it is possible to just make them myslef? Thanks again.

Great stuff Lee - double duty tools are most satisfying... extractor too - nice. I saw you'd put a slight double bend in that thick bar - can't remember right now but wondered what method you'd used to achieve that.

How did you bend those offsets in the body of the new tool?

What is the weight of your surface grinder?

That spanner wrench probably fits another hub.
