I had a Surface Pro 4 back in the day and ended up switching to a Mac Mini + iPad Pro. This week I switched back with a Surface Pro 9 and oh my gosh I didn't realize how much I missed it. It just makes so much more sense to have a single system that can dock to a desk setup, bring along as a laptop, and lean back as a drawing canvas. All the guesswork of switching off to mobile Office apps is gone. No more wrestling with the iPad version of Photoshop. I even upgraded the SSD myself and saved a ton of money! It's good to be back.

I would prefer the surface pro if it was my only carrying device. iPads are too limited. I prefer Lightroom editing on my surface pro!

I have both and would agree on the Surface if I could just have 1, or Id at least need another laptop alongside an iPad. The iPad has limitations, but it’s also not supposed to be a MacBook 2-in-1. I think it’s “different” We may have opinions that it’s limited but some people are growing up preferring the simple and agile nature of things like iPads. Some people who just email and review documents to manage their team do prefer just using the simplicity of iPad - for me I still prefer doing that stuff from Windows as it feels less cramped, even on the same size device. I have tweaked a lot of apps on iPad 12.9 to scale text down to a smaller size, you can do this for every app separately which is a great touch

I love the iPad Pro but every Monday this love suffers because I receive numerous PDF documents from my coworkers. I have to sign them, comment on them and forward them. While doing so, I get a crisis with the iPad because somehow very simple things are super cumbersome. I really feel sorry for the iPad because it does a lot of things great but for full office work, the Surface is just so much better. Many thx. For this great video, you doing a fantastic job! Hi Jerad, for a simple work podcast would you recommend the iPad 10 or the surface pro 9? I use an iphone 14 now but i use a lenovo PC for work. both the ipad and the surface pro seem powerful but i'm not really a tech savvy person so I wanted to get your friendly 2 cents. its going to be done via zoom. keep up the great videos too.

If you want to make notes then only Microsoft and Samsung provide good writing experience. Others are doing just formality for specs matching

I own a M2 iPad Pro 11-inch and I use it with my macbook. I tried using only my iPad for 1 week and the iPad meets most of my requirements. Even for more demanding tasks like using FCP or DaVinci resolve. The only thing that bugs me is not the lack of apps but the dumbed-down version of microsoft office apps. Stage manager and external monitor support on the iPad is great for me and I like it more than the mac in some ways. Yes the windows are fixed and orientation is limited but I feel that this allows me to organize my apps more easily. I am watching to see if i should switch to a surface pro after my iPad gets old but now I am still not sure if the surface can compete with Apple’s MacBook pros

I wish we had an option to run full Mac OS (dual boot) on the iPad as that ipadOs isn't pro and cross compatible with your pro desktop apps. No excuse really with the powerful m chip and gpu paired with an excellent pointing device called a pencil for small UI elements .I think its better than a track pad on a laptop. For now the windows device wins as iPad OS is crippleware and that's coming from a Mac user.

you mention ipad has 'better' battery live but what is 'better' ? Ipad supposed to last 10 hours but user reviees show they ladt maybe 6 or 7. You dont actually mention rought battery live on either. I have seen user reviews on surface saying 4 or 5 hours... Yes it depends on what you do but just your personal experience in hours battery live would be better than just saying 'ipad is better'

Hi it’s a challenge to 1 million, build a laptop computer with an ipad pro or galaxy tab ultra screen, the battery of an ipad pro and the motherboard of the surface pro 9. we are tired of making concessions because of builders.#ipadpro #galaxytab #surfacepro9

Unfortunately your export speed comparison is flawed - you can see the UI on the ipad saying "downloading original" between every photo it renders. So it's constantly stopping and starting because it doesn't even have the source files available. Maxtech showed the ipad pro can export from lightroom much faster than surface pro, you can also tell by the geekbench scores, the M1 is almost desktop class speed for single and multicore. Surface pro is great concept but it's too fiddly to use without a keyboard and mouse/trackpad, and as soon as you add the weight of those, well you may as well get a macbook air m1 with full MacOS.

Also seen some comparisons of macbook air m1 vs surface pro... the macbook still has 40-50% battery remaining when the surface pro dies. Apple is just insanely efficient right now. Hoping intel and AMD catch up asap.

ANDROID TABLETS VS WINDOWS TABLET EDITING I am currently looking for an option to video edit on a larger screen, namely an Android tablet or Windows tablet. However, in my quest, I almost found no video where this sort of comparison is made. I wanted to know the render speed on PC for the same video, and how fast each is able to reverse and speed up videos in Capcut. I have no problem seeing Capcut PC and Capcut Android being compared. I only want to know which one performs better for the same amount of money, as I am considering either an Android tablet or a Microsoft tablet. The only comparison I would like is for the devices to be not more than $1100. And yes, I know some of you might come in and say it's about the experience and the OS being different, to which I say I don't care; I just want to be able to edit on a bigger tablet/touchscreen, regardless of the OS, because I am comfortable using both. Some comparable devices I was thinking of: Windows tablet: - Dell XPS 13 - Microsoft Surface Pro 9 Android Tablet: - Samsung Tab S9+ - OnePlus Pad

I use windows 11 PC because of a large investments in legacy software and training. I was seduced by iPad when procreate came along. I justified my move on the principle that Apple were more innovative. Then they lost Steve jobs and they seem to have just moved down into mediocrity mode. I had hoped the move to the M1 then M2 chips augers an awakening of the slumbering beast, alas it seems no such luck. It feels like Apple are searching for some innovation and just grabbing at straws. To make the appearance of progress. Hence I am looking at these comparisons. I am now getting more certain than ever that Apple don’t want to make anything more of the iPad. They are happy for you to spend lots of cash on iPad and Mac as separate entities I can’t see them ever converging.. so looks like my return to windows is inevitable.

LOL for games the iPad is actually better. Yes windows is the better platform for games but you do need a better pc for a good experience. This how I’d rank devices when it comes to games: 1. Box PC with RTX 4090 to 3070TI (depending on budget and resolution) 2. Gaming laptop with dedicated graphics (mobile 3080 to 1660TI maybe) 3. Console (PlayStation/Xbox) and Steam Deck (bad battery performance in my experience) 4. Mobile gaming on iPad CoD mobile, League of Legends wild rift, Genshin Impact + more, there’s a lot of great titles(better size screen than on your phone and works great with a Xbox or PS5 controller) 5. PC laptop with intel integrated graphics (yes its better then it used to be but still kind of sucks, throttling makes most FPS unplayable) 8. Gaming on a Mac (yes there’s new translation kit but it’s still not for any body who doesn’t like to tinker a lot) I’m right? Or maybe I missed something?

I agree with you, but it depends on the games you play. Most popular games are not available on the iPad unless they are mobile versions of the game which lack many features. The Surface Pro 9 would not provide the best gaming experience for those games but the iPad doesn't either. The iPad is better for games that are available on both platforms with the same features. Things are changing fast and the discrepancies between versions of a game are getting smaller. Thanks for your comment.

I prefer the security that comes with the Apple Ecosystem. I won’t go outside if it. I’ve never had a problem being able to do anything I need to do on an iPad Pro, or an iPad Mini.

Man, I was a huge apple fanboy, but when I started working in sales for a company that was strictly microsoft....I found that I loved it way more when it came to doing business. I have the new Macbook pro, Iphone, apple watch 7, airpod pro, and those were from me upgrading from recent apple products. So I understand you when you say ecosystem lol. But I needed something I could use to walk jobsites and take notes. I went with the surface pro 9 and it is awesome! I'm glad I didn't go with the ipad, and I'm kinda shying away from apple when it comes to personal use with computers. Might be selling my m1 pro.....Dont be scared and try something new!

@@jmck7766 It is all about security and privacy for me. I won’t go outside of Apple’s ecosystem, and I have all of the security/settings options ratched u to the max, even if it means dealing with some inconveniences.

Very fair analysis. After years of iPads my company switched to Surface Pros. I was distraught. I am completely emerged in the Apple ecosystem and a Numbers power user. Fortunately I had a personal iPad Pro 12.9 that I now use for work. All our interfaces are web based, so I didn't miss a beat. Recently worked a trade show and a lot of my Surface Pro coworkers expressed iPad envy, some going so far as saying they were going to follow my example and invest in an iPad for work. My Surface Pro is now just a dust collector.

If you are using it for work than the Surface is a no brainer. IPADS are far too limited compared to a full blown PC.

@@williamcopeland2617 I find the Surface Pro to be a slower system. I also find the battery life to be worse. A decade ago I would have been more prone to agree with you. The iPad definitely isn’t Windows or Mac OS, but it is far more usable then it was and definitely more responsive than either system . Admittedly I use a Mac at home for personal and some business tasks, simply for the screen real estate and to drive multiple monitors. But when I go out the door to visit clients, the iPad is what I have in my hand. I have the option to use a Surface Pro and I don’t mostly for the reasons stated, but partially because the iPad is a more enjoyable device to use. So is it a “no brainer”? I think there is a lot more nuances involved. Maybe for you the no brained is the Surface Pro, for me it is and will continue to be the iPad. That all said, I’d be curious to here how you think the iPad is limited for business tasks. We may be using these devices for totally different business uses or tasks.

@@jimtipton8888 The IPAD cannot use several of CAD programs that Windows can. That was the problem we had with MACOS as well. Not all programs run on the IPAD and MACS like they do on Windows. Now the battery life is definitely better on the IPAD, but speed wise they are relatively the same. Though IPAD pretty run Mobile programs whereas the Pro 9 runs the full program, and yet it's still blazing fast. The Keyboard without a doubt suck on the IPAD compared to the Surface keyboard, and at the end of the day more can simply be done on the Pro 9 opposed to the IPAD.

Not a great comparison. iPad is is a true tablet OS. Windows is really a desktop OS. It is really not an apples to apples comparison. If you need a tablet, iPad Pro wins in a landslide. If you need a laptop with a full computer OS, go buy one of those. Surface is not a great tablet bc Windows 11 is not optimized for tablet use and it’s battery life sucks. Surface also is not a great laptop. You can’t even use it on your lap. I’d go with a different model laptop if that’s what I needed. Would be cheaper and better.
