Kudos on digging the trench. It was a smart move and indicative of the way you work. A good engineer anticipates the problem instead of reacting after it has occurred. Let the critics put that in their pipe and smoke it.

Agree. Most people will not think about controlling the water and will dig down to to make a smooth driveway turning it into a trench with potholes. Good for job security but bad for the customers.

The new driveway looks quite steep, so not surprising the truck got stuck, but what surprised me was the little bobcat pulled it out up hill !!. I find it very satisfying watching your work, and the progress made.Thank you .

You do GREAT JOBS at REASONABLE PRICES ... you've had good success and gained valuable knowledge and experience over the years, and from what I've observed, you have an abundance of (un)common sense which makes you a hard worker and problem solver. I would hire you in a split second !!! Keep up the great videos ... I'm a retired truck driver that appreciates a guy who works hard and uses his head to get things done. Why is the sign needed?
@silvernatedogg
@silvernatedogg 4 жыл бұрын
Eri Si I think it’s to try to give the trucking company some limit to their liability when a big rock comes loose and smashes the car or motorcycle behind them. Some companies use the sign “ NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR BROKEN WINDSHIELDS” “STAY BACK 200 FEET”. It’s BS and doesn’t excuse someone who fails to secure their load.
@Kpalsm
@Kpalsm 4 жыл бұрын
@@silvernatedogg Yeah it wouldn't be legally binding. A company can write whatever they want on a sign and put it on their trucks, doesn't mean it'll stick in court. It's the same thing with EULAs, a company can't just "make up it's own law" which circumvents real actual law.
@4k8t
@4k8t 4 жыл бұрын
@@erisi6204 I suspect that its function is similar to signs that say, "If you can't see my mirrors, I can't see you". A warning aimed more at drivers who might want to snuggle right up behind a big truck. The truck drive wants to be careful, but warning everyone doesn't hurt either and it probably helps a bit when the inevitable lawsuit comes up.

There is support all around the sides of the pipe. Therefore the pipe can’t just be squished. The only other way it could get crushed is from immense pressure from above to collapse the pipe in on itself. It is almost impossible for that to happen because of the structure of the pipe, because the top is an arch and can withstand a huge amount of weight. So yes, That depth would be plenty.

About the culvert pipe crushing: I've worked for a grading company for 14 years and the man I work for has been doing grading for 40 years. The rule of thumb we use is at least 8 inches of cover over culvert pipes. That includes concrete pipe and especially the plastic. It has the corrigatoin to make it stronger but I've seen it crush when it's only a small amount of cover. I've seen concrete pipe crush as well but it had a very heavy load on it with only about 2 inches of cover. Do it right or a little better than right so you don't have to fix a mistake for free and lose money is a good rule to follow as well. My boss man must know because hes had plenty of time and experience. You do great work for sure and I'm not trying to knock you or be disrespectful at all just offering some friendly advice. Love what you do and I'm headed toward working for myself as well. Keep up the good work! ❗👍

I really like your tracked bobcat. it is very useful. it does take owner help, during very cold weather, by vigorous cleaning after evening, to be able to be used in the morning. but that would keep it from breaking, and since it is so dependable, and starts so well, even in very cold weather, that if it had a cab, like with a removable cab with plastic, so it would even be more comfortable in very cold weather, and would even benefit when plowing clients driveways during extreme cold, by putting a heater in the cab. even small honda's have small cabs, so as you get older, it doesn't wear you down prematurely.

I have never seen a plastic culvert collapse even with a few inches of rock and soil covering the tops. Our county barn has switched to all plastic culverts. To date they have never had one fail and we live in a heavy agriculture county and there is nothing heavier than a big round hay bailer with narrow wheels. They cause more compression than a 120 HP 4 wheel drive tractor with orchard tires and wheels on the tractor. We have lots of huge orchards and the farmers order their tractors with those narrow wheels and tires and boy do they ever compact the soil.

Looks like there is WAY TOO MUCH dirt in that Base Stone to me? ..... But a good heavy load of Crush-N-Run (not 2-A modified) on top will fix that issue!.....Always fun watching Andy Camarata's video's, hes a very smart young man!!!... ---> However, I miss not seeing NEW Storage Container work, I'm making plans to build my Storage Container shop with a large apartment myself, Andy's videos gave me TONS of ideas and saved me from doing things the wrong way or a harder way!....thanks Andy!.

I think its stone dust? Either way I fell it helps hold everything together. Yes it will be topped in the future with a finish gravel. There is a new storage container video coming out soon, its going to be a good one.

No matter what you do, there is always someone who thinks they can do it better. I say go with what you know works for you, sleep well at night and keep moving on!

people commenting about the culvert pipe haven't understood how coarse gravel/stone works to distribute loads. plus in this situation it can't be deeper then the ditch it feeds to/from.

Gustav they do that in America as well but then Andrew would have had to move the stone much further rather then having each load dumped right where he needed it to be spread.

Good video and nice work on the road. Take negative comments with a grain of salt. It is obvious that you know what you are doing.

Thanks. I try to, but also consider them as constructive criticism, or try to answer the persons question with a demonstration. This person said the pipe will crush as soon as a truck drove over it, so I showed him a video of a truck driving over it, and it not crushing.
