Building this twin-fin fish surfboard was real fun! the client wants something special and I think it turned out great.
this is EPS 3LB core with 6oz bottom and 2 X 6oz top. Epoxy resin with pigments. Board dimensions are: 5'7 X 21" X 2 2/3" about 30L.

Welcome to my channel
My name is Koby and I am a surfboard shaper from Israel
For the last 7 years, I shape and build surfboards in my small workshop and now I will expand for more great projects using Epoxy resin such as River tables, woodworking, and more. I will upload surfboard building tutorials, shaping tools reviews, and great tips about working with epoxy resin art.
All my boards are made from EPS and epoxy resin and I like to go crazy with my resin! I will do swirls using tints and pigments, cloth inlays, weird shapes, and more.
I can talk about surfboards all day, so feel free to ask me any questions you may have and I will do my very best to answer them in the best way possible

It's kind of jealous.. I live in a small town in Korea, nearby a seashore. In most times, I can see lots of surfers come from Seoul to spend vacation here. I just experienced surfing and surfing really inspires me, as good as this video! These videos gave me visions in my life, Thanks!

Nice job! Betcha that board hauls ass. I learned something when you replied to someone else on how you IMMEDIATELY do the clear after the color and that by not pressing down hard with the squeegee doing the clear that the color remains the same. I have been wondering about that so that’s huge. Thanks!😀🤙🏼🏄🏻‍♂️ Subscribed.

Super sick! Wanted to do my first glass job soon. I’m worried about over sanding, can you explain what grit sandpaper you used? Also for the fin boxes did you use a router or something else?
@kobymaymonsurfboards7320
@kobymaymonsurfboards7320 3 жыл бұрын
I use router and templates but you can use dremel and open freestyle slowly, about sanding- start with 120 grit to be safe, use orbital sander in low rpm not to over heat the surface and you will be fine 🤙🏼 Go from 120 to 180, 240 and wet paper up to 1000, or just use mat finish clear cote spray as i use after the 240, no worries 🙌🏽

Hey Koby, I watched your Carbon Fiber board build last night. I noticed that the board, prior to painting had some cloudy areas that interfered with the beautiful carbon fiber print visual. Since this was likely one of your first epoxy infusion boards may I make a humble suggestion? The reason for this is that the epoxy was laid up prior to the vacuum bagging. I know that epoxy is expensive and the technique you used conserved material, however . . . consider this. . . air was dissolved in the epoxy, even though you didn't see bubbles prior to the layup. Just like the soda pop in a bottle is clear when under pressure, as soon as the pressure drops by opening the bottle the dissolved CO2 comes out as bubbles. This is what happened when the epoxy entered the vacuum chamber. The spreading of the epoxy under atmospheric pressure made things worse by dissolving even more air. The solution to this problem is to do the layup completely dry placing that in the vacuum bag. Another pot containing more epoxy than you used is first put under vacuum on its own for a few minutes to degas it. You will see it bubble as the dissolved air is evacuated. Also, the infusion epoxy is thinner and not as thick as normal epoxy, allowing it to degass easily and quickly flow into your project from the end opposite the vacuum pump. There are other videos out there showing the physical setup. Good luck and keep up the inspiring videos!

very nice job on the glassing job man! love the stripes! I would like to do the same on my polyester fish! one question, how do you wrap the fiberglass around the swallow tail? i ve been looking for answers everywhere but really hard to find one! some people use patches some other not, how about you? it looks clean! thanks and keep posting ;)
@kobymaymonsurfboards7320
@kobymaymonsurfboards7320 3 жыл бұрын
few ways to do that, I cut it about 5cm under the rail line, for the fishtail - I pre-cut patches to cover the dead areas... I add then after I am done with my laps. patches are 5 by 10 cm - usually goes well. I will try to make a small video about it next time

perfect, this board looks soo nice! I have a question Koby. After the black and orange colour, did you wait a few minutes to let the colours set in the glass?....before using the clear resin? Because nothing of the colour gets smeared from the clear resin.
