Good video. Just takes a little experimenting with ballast and wake booster attached. It’s not a pure surf boat, but for the money and versatility, I’ll keep mine. My daughter can surf all day behind it once we figured out the right ballast configuration for her weight.

It does take experimenting but I did finally move onto a real surf boat and it’s amazing still miss Yamaha though!!

This is a great video. I have the same boat - really fun! No, it's not a 'proper' surf boat, but a 25-26ft 'proper' surf boat is 2 - 3 times, yes times, expensive, so yeah... There's that. So, you can get a decent wave out of these, but you need to the wake booster, and an added bag really helps (in addition to built in ballast - the setup here seems right) and about 10.8 mph, and for sure DEEP water. if you are on a lake or river that is 5ft deep, your wave will suck. I setup my system, was in about 5ft of water - terrible wave, didn't change a thing, but moved to deep water - surf-able wave appeared - amazing.

Ballast configuration/surf question: 1) can you ride ropeless with your 110:50:75 configuration? 2) to get the 110% fill are you doing that by going into the settings and calibrating to overfill the bag?
@justinjames17194 жыл бұрын
Yes my daughters and friends do but I’m 300lbs and the wake just doesn’t have enough push for me. When it gets to 100% you just keep tapping the up arrow.
@yippikiyay1974 ай бұрын
Do you think you could surf w/ no rope without the ballast, just the booster?
@justinjames17194 ай бұрын
No it needs the weight for sure. Water displacement.

Do you haul it with the sun shade in place

No I always take it off unless I’m staying under 45mph

IS the 242 great at handling salt water?
@justinjames17193 жыл бұрын
Not sure I’ve never taken it in salt water, never will.

can you share how to get the tanks to 110%? Tried on my 2019 last night with no success. Thanks
@justinjames17193 жыл бұрын
Chris Forister hold the up button down until goes to 110% or just keep tapping it, good luck wish these boats had mor ballasts

@@justinjames1719 Thanks for the reply. I agree need more ballast. Works great when we have three or more on board but if its just two of us we cannot get enough out of the ballast. I'll try again but I tried holding and keep tapping with no luck.

Don't understand the point of hydrofoiling but im sure I could master it quickly is it fun?

It’s fun and you can ride smaller Wakes with it and also sometimes with no Wakes

Yes it’s amazing and effortless when your up and find the right wave to start pumping

Do the riders feel enough push to where they can let go of the rope? I’m in the market for a 242x and I have questions before the purchase. Thanks
@justinjames17194 жыл бұрын
Yes there is push for letting go of the rope but you do have to get used to it and be in the right spot of the wake to let go and stay in the wake, not enough ballast in the boat is the problem. Anymore questions let me know.
@Xwing1064664 жыл бұрын
The bigger question is, can you afford a little more money and get an actual wake surf boat? If that’s what you are looking for?
@Bigg_G114 жыл бұрын
Xwing106466 I like the Yamaha 242x. I like how it is an everything boat; salt water and fresh water. It has space for a head. It has more advantages than disadvantages. I’ve just been seeing a lot of wakebooster vs JetBoat Pilots deflector. I wanted to know if there was enough push to let go:

@@Bigg_G11 we use ours exclusively in saltwater and have had some issues with the ballast system. Worked twice in 2018, they replaced the screen/computer system last season since the port bag wouldn't fill and now it is back in the shop since, after the repairs, none of the bags fill. Other than that we love the boat since we can bring it into our beach (unlike a dedicated wake boat), its quick and people can board from the back
@justinjames17194 жыл бұрын
Yes plenty of push. I only have the stock ballast and usually 5 to 10 people on the boat

Hello Justin. I like your videos. I would like to come in contact with you. This week I am buying the same boat like yours. I want to order the wake booster package you show in your video, but I cannot find it. I live in Fort Lauderdale. Can you help me out please?

Hilarious how yamaha keeps calling these surf boats. I have one. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Pull out your checkbooks for new superchargers every 50 to 100 hrs and a new engine after 5 years when they cant solve overheating and diminished rpms.
@justinjames17193 жыл бұрын
how many hours you have on yours? You have overheating issues?
@corwininadsm3 жыл бұрын
These don't have superchargers.
@anthonys75343 жыл бұрын
Superchargers???? How about your muffler bearings? How are they holding up? Yes they are NOT dedicated surf board. But I've never heard of supercharger issues on this boat, unless you have an AR 195
