One of the most inspiring techno artist ever. Rarely do people realize that he is using the headphones mainly as a neck warmer. And yet all is in time. Uncompromised skill level, outstanding musicality. The two times I saw him live were embossing: in 2004 I saw Ableton being used for live act (adopting this rite from then on) for the first time and in 2018 I realized that in 2004 he was using no headphones. I love this guy. Funny enough, people thought he was playing a playlist in 2004 while he was live-acting with only a few in the hall to realize it, it was such a fluid experience, not apprehensible for the attendees. 19 years later I still enjoy this memory.

Thanks for sharing this. I recently discovered Tony Surgeon through an old school music journalist from Brazil. The guy saw the birth of our scene and referred to Tony as “one of the greatest techno artists that ever lived”, so I had to check out his work. I've been on a 5 day spree listening to his sets and albums and wow. Just wow.

At 44:30 Surgeon's remix of ;Why? + For Whom?; by Steve Bicknell starts coming in and starts dropping out around 47:15. I heard that tune the first time I went to House of God in Birmingham back in 2015. I'd never been to a rave before and honestly it changed my life and my ideas about what music can be about. Absolutely classic tune!
