Great video sir. Very well explained. However, there are few things to which I don’t agree, like - 1) Firstly, fish oil contains more amount of omega 3 fatty acids and that is anti- inflammatory, while in this video you explained otherwise, that it contains more omega 6 fatty acids (omega 6 FA are pro inflammatory). Soya bean oil contains more amount of omega 6 FA. 2) Secondly, If a patient needs PN (EN is contraindicated) for more than a week then why go for PPN ? I think it must be other way round. As, if there is long term requirement for PN then better go for TPN through central line, as peripheral lines will get blocked in few days and there will be thrombophlebitis. I may be wrong. if yes, please clear these doubts sir. Regards.

Isnt what sir told? If enteral is contraindicated... PN is started and if its is req for long term i.e. >1Week then go for TPN via central line.

Same doubt here. If we're starting parenteral nutrition for more than 1 week then it should be TPN and if for less than 1 week then PPN. Because long term complications are more with PPN. Simple logic (according to my understanding). May be sir has written it by mistake.

@@Dr.Shahinur yes ur right ppn can be given up to 2 weeks because of long term side effect of Thrombophlebitis

Thrombophlebitis is not possible by peripheral if product has tourine in it.

The contraindications you mentioned about PN happens in combiklas or TNA product as one you show. None of these problems happens with Fresenius Kabi PN product

TPN and PPN r iv routes.....and lipids are required for absorption of vit A,D,E,K in intestine.....then wht is lipid role as it is not passing via GI tract

Arachidonic acid is unsaturated omega 6 fatty acid, not omega 3, i think he misinterpreted this term.
