"You never envision your child on the operating table. But, at the end of the day, we did what was right. We had a great outcome and for that we'll forever be grateful to our care team," said Heather Lofy after her son, Tuck, had surgery to correct his craniosynostosis. Nationwide Children's Hospital is a high-volume center when treating craniosynostosis. We offer a comprehensive care plan and follow these patients until they are teenagers. Our pediatric neurosurgeons are trained in treating children with craniosynostosis using some of the most advanced surgical techniques and equipment. Whenever possible, we conduct minimally invasive surgeries requiring only small incisions. Whether performing a traditional surgery or a minimally invasive procedure, our goal is to correct the shape of a child’s head and allow normal brain growth, all to deliver the best outcome for every child.

after surgery can baby suffer from speaking problem??

After this surgery there are many reports of kids retreating into themselves and becoming very quiet and very distrustful of adults. Is it really worth changing their whole personality? Also many occasions it doesn't even help them. People also need to realise that we are talking about none threatening craniosynostosis, not the genetic kind that is really really dangerous. In America doctors will scare parents into having the surgery as they want to get a paycheck. See how many videos like this are from Europe on KZfaq and how many from the USA!!!! Scare tactics for a quick buck.

That is such a mild mild case, you can hardly tell at all by looking at that child. There is no way that child needed cosmetic surgery and all the risks that involves. The parents should be ashamed of themselves.

This is not cosmetic surgery. This is where the skull bones have literally fused together too early and can lead to severe brain damage, vision issues, and seizures just to name a few if not caught and treated early. The parents did the absolutely right thing by having surgery done to protect their child.

@@ak8990 My son has the same thing and the doctor said there is no need for surgery as with a mild case it would only be cosmetic and surgery carries a huge risk. In severe cases of course surgery is needed but the child in this video has only a very slightly misshapen skull. It is just hospitals trying to make money by putting fear into parents.

@@johnandre2962 Thank you so much for posting this. On our third child we found ridges on her skull and we have an appt to see her pediatrician. I am so hoping that everything is normal and she doesn't have craniosynostosis or need to have surgery.

My son is 16 years old now, had the same degree, maybe slightly less than this child, no surgery and he is completely fine…. Looks handsome and couldn’t tell anything is different with his head. He had a bit of a ridge at the top of his head as a child but can’t feel it now that he’s a big guy.
