I just got hired in SPD with no training at all. Do you have any tips maybe? Especially about remembering all these instruments?

@@kaykay5041 Congratulations! Honestly; you're going to have to go above and beyond to gain the knowledge to be successful for yourself. I don't know if you're hospital has an educator or not? I literally carried a black note book and took notes on everything the first 6 months. Im referring to Sterilization, Decon and how to navigate through Spm. In regards to learning your instruments... Pick one of the hardest sets and learn it. You have to challenge yourself. A great example would be to assemble a Vascular set because it also has a lot of your basic instruments. Learn your your instruments first. I don't know the case volume where you are but i would pick up Saturdays which is my off days and i would take my time if given to complete the set. Also team up with career and passionate co-workers. I wish you the best!

No surgeon needs to learn 1000 instruments.. In which planet have you used this number of instruments. I myself know that around 100-200 instruments are required in total. For abdominal surgery, there are 30-40 known instruments. In laparoscopy again same number of instruments. ENT instruments, orthopedic instruments, neurosurgery instruments, obstetrics and gynaecology instruments are different from what the general surgeon knows. Also no doctor requires to know the instruments used in other branches. Thanks

delicate like subcutaneous and light fascia. Can also be used to hold onto fascia of the abdomen during abdominal surgery

The delicate tissues means those tissues in the body which can get teared/perforated easily if any minimal trauma is applied from outside. These tissues include the bowel (intestine loops), bladder, blood vessels, fallopian tube, uterus and any visceral structure.
