Highly unlikely for Rudy to pull himself out of that depression by himself, that's one of his greatest weaknesses. The last time he only managed to get back up because Zenith was still missing, that gave him a purpose. But now she is also gone. He also hadn't eaten for a week at this point, so potentially he might have just died in that room if Roxy hadn't saved his ass.

God I love Elinalise so much, she's such an amazing support character. So many other shows would have just had her be the "fanservice joke character" after her introduction, but the level of maturity and emotional intelligence and compassion she has for everyone else from all her experiences is so amazing. She really does feel like the wise grandma giving everyone life advice lol

@@ShiNijuuAKL not everything can be adapted. Obviously the LN will have a lot more depth for side characters and even the main character on some points.

5:40 they've cut the stuff that lead to it, but they kept Roxy's answers intact. Her line "Please look forward to the future. Everyone is waiting for you." is IMHO the single most impactful in the entire novel series. Each time I go through it I can't help but be moved to tears.

0:50 when he was getting kicked out of that house in episode 2 of season 1, those were his siblings after they left the funeral, coming into the room to find that he was beating his meat instead (to what depends on whether you go by the original WN canon, or the LN canon). So yeah, he didn't just skip out on his parents' funeral, it was even worse. The cheating bit was different in the LN. Roxy doesn't end up on top, more like in his lap, and then she starts going on about how they "can do 'it'" and goes on a whole like 2 paragraph tangent talking him into it, and he caves. Like, caves really hard. When he wakes up the morning after, he immediately thinks about how bad he just fucked up, and also comments that he had been too rough with Roxy, having taken his frustration out on her in the process.

A little bit of some Elinalise backstory was cut, which explains why she didn't want to see her best friend sad and alone even if it affected her grand daughters happiness “Honestly, I can’t stand to look at Roxy the way she is right now. She yearns to throw herself into the relationship and lean on you, but is forcing herself to hang back, just because she happened to meet you too late. ” I felt bad for Roxy when she put it like that…but I also felt bad for Sylphie when I looked at it from her perspective. “If you part on bad terms, I have no doubt she’ll lead a miserable life. It’s possible some dirtbag will take advantage of her, treat her terribly, and then sell her off as collateral for his unpaid loans, causing her to end up bearing the child of a man she doesn’t even know.” “Isn’t that going a bit too far?” I asked uncomfortably. “I know of a woman who led such a life.” She spoke so frankly I found myself wondering for a moment if she was speaking of her own personal experience

I'm glad you liked the ep..even though the adaption wasn't perfect, with more time they could have explored things way more..yeah it could definitely be better but I feel like they got their points across..

Yeah Rudy is very mentally weak, lets not forget he tried to kill himself multiple times at the beginning of the season, he'd have never gotten out of his depression alone.

Geese was pretty much the one who put ideas in Roxy's head that seggs would be the best way to help Rudy. In front of Roxy and others, Geese suggested that Elinalise should "cheer him up" but was shot down since she didn't want to betray Cliff, and that's also the moment where she finally breaks the news to Roxy that Rudy was married. Roxy took the news pretty badly, as she felt so stupid for pining over Rudy after all that time while everyone was just watching without telling her. Though Geese really stuck that this might be the only way to help Rudy up until Talhand just convinced everyone, except Roxy, to leave Rudy alone since he's already an adult. If Roxy had no sort of third-party influence and just discovered Rudy's marriage alone, she might've went to a more wholesome approach of just listening to Rudy, just like how he did with Norn previously.

I recommend you read the light novel when it's finished, it's much more complete. Rudy's depression after his father's death, his thoughts and so on are dealt with much more thoroughly. The anime was acceptable, but very shallow. I love your reactions

Yeah its not exactly the same way because paul started of cheating because his wife was pregnant and the believe was sex is bad for the baby if the woman is pregnant so paul was pent up and ends up being seduced by lilia. Rudeus was more depressed and in a griefing state. Not that it means rudeus is allowed to cheat, but the context is completely different all paul had to do was just wait until his baby was born.

Paul also didn't break the news to Zenith, Lilia basically did. Paul didn't admit to it until Lilia said she was probably pregnant. He had all that time to confess, and didn't until he was basically forced to.

LN reader in shambles rn bc they skipped a lot of content but as a reader my self I’m glad the anime only ppl are enjoying the episode honestly they got all the points across just cut alot of Rudy’s depression but in the novel he hasn’t eaten in like 3 weeks that’s why he malnourished and it was like another month to get home

The weakest episode of the series so far. A whole hour of reading just skipped of the most important content of the series. Roxie didn't climb on top of him, and Rudy told her about being reincarnated and his regrets from that life. They mostly skipped his torment and what it was doing to him. They had to get Rudy functioning, they couldn't go back through the sandstorm barrier without him, and he was starving himself and so on. They also moved something very important around when it was part of Rudy's decision to marry Roxie. I feel badly for anime only fans. :(
