Today, we surprise Eddie with his first BESPOKE SUIT! He has no idea what’s in store as we take a walk down Savile Row to visit Simon Cundey at Henry Poole to view some of his Winston Churchill memorabilia.
On a previous visit to London, Eddie asked me that if he were ever to begin his journey to getting a bespoke suit made, that I would accompany him. I spoke with my good friend Simon and we decided to go one better and surprise him with his very first bespoke suit!
Simon is the managing director and 7th generation owner of Henry Poole & Co, who were the very first tailors on Savile Row! Their bespoke clothing is actually referred to as 'Pure Bespoke', because every part of the creation of the suit is done right there on site in Savile Row. Nothing goes to any other facility or workshop.
So join me as we surprise Eddie with this adventure and see him take his first steps into the wonderful work of bespoke!

I noticed it, too. Very interesting. But I think Simon was reading Eddie's current style, which is slim and clean. So that may have prompted him to suggest no pleats, *in this particular instance*.

Kirby's suprise at these two gentlemen response shows the level ofvconfidence they have with their personal style and taste, along with the depth of sophistication they have over Kirby who may not have lived & grow up with the accoutrements/ trappings of the Old World environment these two gentlemen were exposed to in their formative years.

I've been following Kirby Allison videos since the beginning and I can say with humble gratitude this is by far my favorite episode. Wonderful generosity by Kirby as well as articulate explanations. I learned a great deal about bespoke suits. Additionally, Eddie is a delight. I aspire to be more like him. He's the definition of a pure gentleman.

Yeah, I thought he had a few bespoke suits, as the ones he often wears in Kirby's videos have a gap in the middle of the cuff buttons, which sure isn't off the rack standard!

You understand he’s probably not poor but not at the level of wealth you need to be to do that? Still, I can guarantee he would have high quality off the rack adjusted suits. If you’re lucky with regard to sizing these may fit you almost as well to bespoke.

I discovered this film purely by accident, I'm very pleased I did! Who'd have thought a film about a suit fitting could have such a feel good factor, entirely due to the cast of course, three very fine characters and gentleman! A lot of talk about generational crafts, and shops, in this episode. It must be so interesting to have a chance to talk with people like that. Who have grown up and thrived in upscale bespoke shops/business. I think the way historic tobacco production, and bespoke tailoring methods, have come so far yet stayed true to their past, is part of what makes these trades so special. It’s more than just classic. It’s one of a kind, as always! The fact that so many staples of London have managed to maintain the ideals of the “proper gentleman”, even into the 21st century, is quite impressive. Not to mention, my jealousy of these fabulous excursions Kirby and the Sahakians take is boundless as always. Someday… I’ll have a bespoke suit to wear, while smoking my Davidoff’s. In the States, selling tobacco to individuals under the age of 21 is considered illegal, thus depriving me from enjoying a fine cigar.
