We eat poached eggs in the Uk. I usually drop an unshelled egg into a pan of boiling water and leave it to cook for a few minutes. The tricky part is getting it out of the water without the yoke breaking. The egg poacher was an excellent idea! 😀

Ok! A poached egg is normally cooked by breaking your egg into a pan of gently boiling water, with a splash of vinegar. You should stir the water first and put the egg in the whirl.. and cook gently until the egg is cooked but soft in the middle! Hook it out with a perforated spoon. Eat..on buttered toast, or on cooked spinach… like Eggs Benedict! Your egg poacher reminds me of the ones we used when I was a child, but they sat in a pan of water. Remember to butter the cup you have first..and stick a cocktail stick in the yolk before you cook it in the microwave! Stops it exploding.
