An even darker version of an angry Dave song is Look Who's Talking, a bonus track on Dystopia. My favorite part - you'll never be safe in the shadows. I'll be waiting in the dark. With a shovel and a bag full of lime. I'll say the devil made me do it. Dark.

An extremely underrated tune.

The most underrated Megadeath album, due to the recording value... this song and straight in to Hook in Mouth were my go to tracks in my youth! I guess Liar is about one of the dues in Metallica, as there are a couple of references in there.

David Mustaine, Prince, Leslie West, Curtis Mayfield and John Sykes are musical heroes of mine. Back in the 80s, other Black kids looked at me CRAZY when I played this album for them. Then I played them WAKE UP DEAD. They involuntary started bobbing their heads in time. Groove is infectious. Dave Mustaine doesn’t know it but he helped me survive my deployment in Iraq.

Another good track in the same vein from that album is "Hook In Mouth". Great guitar work, and directly aimed at the Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC) who at the time in 1985 wanted to put "Parental Advisory" stickers on explicit records.

That was a killer track. I just want to say thank you. After I watched your reaction to Ningen Isu. I drove into their catalog and I haven't come across anything I don't like yet. Unfortunately my wife can't get past the Japanese lyrics. I personally don't care what they're saying. I watched a couple of their videos with English subtitles and they don't translate very well into English. That being said they are my new favorite band. It was about Gary Samuelson. He was the drummer of Megadeth on their first two albums. One of the great drummers of metal albums. He's now deceased, But he was an addict. He got Mustaine into junk, and the rest of his band mates. It's widely recognized that the song is actually about the guitarst Chris Poland, who joined and exited the band in unison with Samuelson. But intuition tells me that Gary was the person responsible for the misfortunes fallen upon Megadeth in the early days. And Liar was written in the early days.

Megadeth fan since day 1. I remember buying this album and immediately thought about that one dude in our neighborhood we grew up with. He absolutely fit most of this song's lyrics. He ripped everyone off in the most sneaky and slimy ways. Yeah, out hood was pretty hard sometimes. The dude ended in prison for about ten years......I believe they played this one when I saw them live at a Sacramento, CA club back in the day. I saw them twice back then and a few more times when they got big.

I love it when you do the deeper cuts of an album. The Meat and Bone of an album. This is where the truth lies. This album got mixed reviews, and rightly so, IMO. It's a bit unfocused, prolly cuz they were all strung out on smack and other substances. That being said, a mediocre Megadeth album is head and shoulders above most other bands BEST output. Liar is a thrashing tune that could easily fit on Peace Sells, with the technical punk feel and infernal sneer of Mustaine's vocals. Can't Pigeonhole Mustaine. The song's lyrics were actually directed at former guitarist Chris Poland, who during his heroin addiction, sold guitars and equipment to score smack. They later reconciled and Poland even appears on the Megadeth album System Has Failed several times. Chris is an excellent guitarist. Check out his solo album Metalopolis and the band Damn The Machine! Love IT! Cheers!

Maybe its been said in comments already no idea didn't look. Is about previous Megadeth guitarist Chris Poland. Frontman Dave Mustaine terminated Poland for taking band stuff to support his heroin propensity. A portion of the stuff Poland took without consent included costly very good quality guitars and a vintage Echoplex tape postpone impact that had nostalgic worth to Mustaine. "Liar" is about Poland's failure to concede his missteps and offer to set things straight, regardless of Mustaine's readiness to pardon him assuming he came clean.
