Today I'm testing out this mini electric food chopper that I've seen advertising online. Reviews online are mixed, so I wanted to see for myself how it really worked.

Maybe put the clear bottom on a plate while exerting downward pressure. Lift when full, move sliced items to the side and resume slicing… Just a thought.

I agree. I have a hunch it was designed to do that intentionally, to prevent pressing down too hard and bending the blades. It pops out if you press too hard and "teaches" the user to apply lighter pressure and let gravity and the spinning blades do more of the work.

@Amarianee
@Amarianee Жыл бұрын
To those giving the "put it against the plate," suggestion (in regard to the first guard): I would like to see him try this, but I don't think it would fix the actual problem. Watching carefully, the problem is the food pushing the blade out, which is what causes the guard to fall off. Putting it on the plate would technically prevent the guard itself from falling off, but it wouldn't stop the blade from being pushed out

I have a large food processor I've had for decades. About 10 years ago a friend gave me her mini chopper because it only has a two cup bowl, and it was too small for her family. (I think she received it as a gift.) I thought it was great because if you are only chopping up enough for one bowl of salsa, or an onion to go into something it beats cleaning up the big one. In a couple minutes your done and washing it up. Even the veggies for stuffing/dressing, salads, it's all done quickly. The big food processor has the different blades, grater, etcetera. If I'm only doing a little bit of cheese on something I still use the hand grater I got at the Dollar Tree, it fits into a disposable/reusable blue plastic box to gather the shreds into. I also have an immersion blender. So I don't see any need for something that might fall apart while using it. I have name brand products already, that I really love. Worse case scenario, I get a knife out and a cutting board. I don't think I'd let you pay me to take this product. Sorry. But thank you for the review, it was very interesting, and informative. 👵☮️🖖

So apparently that model has had issues with the blades being installed backwards at the factory .. so it runs in reverse. If anyone has one that doesnt work, check your blades to make sure they spin in the right direction. You can flip them around if you remove the screws.

If you place the slicer snugly over a coffee cup, I’m sure the bottom cup won’t fall off, I’m fairly sure. Of course it’s an inexpensive little item and while there are better chopper/slicers, for prepping for up to 4 people, I think it’s not bad. And I’m sure the blades don’t lock to the top where the motor is because it’s a safety feature so the blades don’t accidentally start without the bottom cup in place.

Yeah, sometimes James just overlooks the obvious. Wouldn't even surprise me if it was mentioned in the tiny manual.

If someone 3d printed a locking bottom section this would be grate. Wonder how the slicing would work with an Onion and garlic as those are my top two chopped items. You should work with a company that would make a legit version of this with some more safety included.

Yeah I can’t believe the makers of this product didn’t come to the realization that maybe they should include some threading for the clear catcher that attaches. Also, why they didn’t make it more hand friendly. Ooof, at one point there, it almost diced your digits haha, ceaaazy. Cool product though.

The slicing attachment is cool. Other than that, a cheap walmart tiny Walmart food processor is better.

Remember folks, if you think having to cut the vegetables first defeats the point, some people can't handle more than basic cutting. Giving them a device that handles the dicing and slicing is a great idea. Although this device needs a locking mechanism. My first point is not really about _this_ device, so much as it is about devices like these in general.
