Great reaction and analysis. This is a top 2 Wes Anderson film for me. The Richie bathroom scene is masterfully done, from the vocals of Elliot Smith to the acting of Luke Wilson. It is truly amazing and haunting.

Only two? God bless. I have five Wes Anderson films tied for my favorite WA film. I need help.

This is my family’s favorite film, especially my mom’s. Visually gorgeous, the costumes, the setting, and the characters of course. While Royal steals the show as the son of a B - he’s still so lovable. The wardrobe the kids wear stays with them for the most part (except for Chas of course) into adulthood showing their stunted growth which is a common theme is see in Wes’ films - the “adults” in his films act childish and the children are always very mature for their age. And the soundtrack here - WOW. Thanks for picking this one, love your observations and look forward to the rest of your Wes Anderson journey 💛

The actor who plays Pagoda was not a professional actor...until he met Wes Anderson. He was someone that Wes met and befriended while in college and he cast him in his early movies.

Best Wes Anderson film by far! Never have I seen a move develop so many characters in such a short amount of time.

Of all Wes Anderson’s films I think this is the most poignant, although all his movies balance that quirky humor with an element of pathos, but that “Needle in the Hay” montage with Ritchie makes me tear up every damn time. Ultimately I have always thought the essence of this film is how Royal brought them all together again despite his being such a selfish father. Such a perfect movie, thank you for your reaction.

One of the best lines from any movie. “I just want to say that the last 6 days have been probably the best of my life.” Narrator: “Immediately after making this statement, Royal realized it was true.”

Yes, Pagoda stabbed him before. He said it earlier, sometime after Royal has crazy adventures with his grandkids. Royal said that Pagoda saved him after he was stabbed. One of the kids asked who stabbed him, and he said 'He did.'

Just found your channel while searching for reactions to this beautiful movie. I'm subscribing! You have some great movies on your channel for me to catch up on, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you check out in the future! Definitely my favorite Wes Anderson movie. Just want to highlight: Gene Hackman. That guy is legendary, he's one of the great, great actors of his generation (usually you'd say of the 70s, but he was amazing in "Bonnie And Clyde" which is 1967 (and practically the dividing line between the "old" style and newer, more realistic-based style that came afterwards. And he was amazing in the 80s and 90s as well. This was his last great role, and what a way to go. (He retired, he's still alive!). DEFINITELY check out "The Conversation" (1974 - directed by Francis Ford Coppolla). You would do a GREAT reaction to that masterpiece of a film, and Gene Hackman is fantastic (as usual). I could give a million Gene Hackman flicks to recommend, but more than any I would say "The Conversation" and also "Bonnie And Clyde", even though he's a supporting character in it. Fantastic one-of-a-kind, groundbreaking masterpieces, fantastic performances. Ok, enough from me! I'll see you on the next video!!!!!
