The gods were speaking unto us, but we had to decipher their meaning. I've consulted every Godi I've met along the way, even journeying far north into the mountains, and two answers are what I've found. Both from further visions induced by those draughts the holy men cooked up." "The first was a grand feast, where handsome and vigorous warriors sat and drank, all two heads taller than the largest berserker. I realized these were the gods! But half the seats were empty. I am so happy u started a knew ck3 series. Lets take it slow and RP , and see where the story takes us, rather than just speedrun paint the map.

My Jarl, I Hombley recommend, that you send your other children go off and become rulers of other lands, then have them become allies to your heir, then convert all those to the way of the vikings.

My Jarl, I recommend making alliances with the sons of Ragnar so that all vikings can attack from both the north and south.

My Jarl, I am a humble chronicler or stories; tales of heroes, fools, monsters and gods have I read and written. I would, if I may be soo bold as to offer my advice- this land we now inhabit is a wealthy one, and has much more pleasant weather than the homes of our forefathers. A fine warrior knows how to fight and conquer, and no one could deny that you have smashed upon these soft people of the south like a hammer upon a rotten shield. However, a warrior and leader also should know not to leave his rear exposed. After having conquered more land than your forefathers would have thought possible, you have the potential to found an empire here to put the Karlings to shame, but knives of cowards and fools are abound. Lest you loose all you have gained, a period of.... consolidation is in order- to set the affairs of the realm in order. Perhaps it is not as enjoyable as smashing in the small heads of our foes, but it is just as important. (seriously- seeing Haesten smash his way into Iberia was really fun to watch)

I never paid much attention to Jarl Hæsten after knocking out his achievement, but creating a Norse Hispania sounds like a great way to spice up my campaigns. Thank you for the quality content!

Tip: winning with the invasion casus belli means you keep everything you occupy plus the war target so if you kill your opponets army you can practically take up their whole realm

Found this character thru this channel and had one of the best campaigns ever. I went straight to the pope with the new raiding/settle war and took his land. Then started to conquer all Italy to found a new empire in one life-spam. At some point, I thought I bugged the game because this Hæsten died at 82 years old kekw

Hey, just in case you wanted some explanations about phonetics in Old Norse : þ is pronounced like "th" in the word "thin". In fact, that "soft th" comes directly from the rune Thurs, ᚦ ð is pronounced like "th" in "there, that", it is the "hard th", also originating from the Thurs rune J is always pronunced like a I or Y, and, g is g, but after a n, it acts like the "ING" ending in English, where you don't really really hear the g anymore. If you know about cases and all that, the R at the end of nominative endings is actually not pronunced "R", but a mix of Z and R, almost like a "sh" sound . It comes down to Protogermanic, where names often ended with the letter z (example with Rune Ur : Old Norse is Ur, Protogermanic is Uruz) This is because, in fact, r and R are different runes in Old Norse (respectively Reid and Yr), so if I were to write, say, the name "Sigurd", I would actually write it like that : Sigurðr but in fact by transliteration of runes, it would read sikurþR (sometimes even without the first r) , and I would know it's the nominative case of the name Sigurð. But you can just stick to the r pronunciation ahah, it does just fine. Keep in mind though, the r in Old Norse is made by touching the alveolar ridge, so it's basically a trilled r, with the tongue almost (if not) touching the teeth or the soft palate!

Greetings my Jarl, congratulations on the sucess of your campaign to strike at the heart of the Iberian peninsula. We can't let anyone think you weak just because you're entering the winter of your life, I believe we should keep expanding our territory in Iberia and beyond either through our Viking might or through marriage, when possible. We should focus on building a strong foundation for a empire that your children will carry on in the future, this means we should try to solve the problems of control in the territory we already have too, by doing this i believe some day we can even challenge the Karling dynasty.

Played this guys for first run. Conquered all of France and England, lived to 105 and now my realm is falling apart due to my grandson being murdered and great grandson being crap. Pretty fun start

Given Vikings lead by having fame and heastien was in the Mediterranean with byjorn Ironsides, he might have noticed how wealthy the Mediterranean can be and he or one of his sons would try to build a power base in the heart of the Mediterranean (islands or Italy) in a wealthy kingdom, where they can raid anywhere in the Mediterranean for greater wealth and fame for them and their line.

i played as haestein too but i conqured italy, converted to christianity, and in my game lotharingia (with my help/just me) remade the holy roman emire and now my daughter in law is set to inheirit the HRE EDIT: i also renamed rome to new kattegat, rome is also my capitol

Played as Jarl Hæsten once. Attacked the Pope at the very beginning, converted to catholicism, became the pope, got rich and powerfull. In the end, I conquered all of Europe and made it catholic. Had a lot of fun. Btw, having a massiv Viking force at the beginning and becoming the pope is super op and broken.

Make Iberia Viking Again! I'd say focus on conquering the whole peninsula and convert it to Norse/Asatro, making it a true Viking Kingdom. After that is done and that powerbase is secured, it really depends on how the situation in West Francia is if the time is right to strike there...or if there is better opportunity elsewhere to build up even more strength before finally showing those Karlings whose Jarl(Boss).

While the bald king must eventually be defeated, these new lands you have brought us to are lush and inhabited by peoples who practice strange religions. They are fractured, though, making now a perfect time to destroy them- first the Muslims to the east and west, then the Christians to the north. Consolidating Iberia under your rule would make you a force greater than all of the feeble Karling kings combined. As you conquer these lands, my Jarl, I would strongly encourage you to take efforts to convince the natives to adopt our Asatru doctrines, bringing you more allies in war and more glory to our gods. To slaughter all those who do not practice our ways would leave the lands with no-one to work them, but they can at least be made to adopt our ways. Your glorious battle against the Sultan Muhammad is known by many- you have the prestige, respect, and power to show any heathen the glory of our gods. My last piece of advice may be out of turn, and for this I beg forgiveness, mighty Haesteinn. Your son is growing stronger and smarter by the day, and will undoubtedly continue the Haesteinn legacy of glorious victories. As he reaches the age to marry, however, would it not be wise to find him an Iberian bride? Norse women are strong and wise and beautiful, but there must certainly be a suitable bride for your son among the native peoples, which would help to truly make us welcomed in this new land and start the process of assimilating these peoples into our way of life. If not a bride for your son, you yourself may want to consider finding a beautiful Iberian to take as a concubine- even this would help your dynasty to be welcomed as much as it is feared.

I suggest forming andalusia in the short term, and taking a elective monarchy decision, midterm you should take all or the majority of Iberia and creating a sprawling empire in the mediterranean sea or at least being the strongest power rivaling the abbasids
