Totally. They learned to really respect each other. That made it awesome. They learned from each other although they came at things from completely different perspectives.

i think they were the most studied also. Cody wrote books and Dave has a school still today. they paywalled all the seasons before i could check out the newer ones though. the newer guys seem like clowns for ratings.

Not to mention Dave and Cody actually respect each other's ideals, and beliefs, like Dave was completely ok with Cody not having any footwear, in fact he says it multiple times through the show, but he also shows worry for him and looks out double time when something bad is on the ground like the cotton mouth snakes in the swamp

Very true. The producers seemed to want more animosity or conflict? It added to the "Drama" and made the survival situations more intense and risky. Which to me seemed to take away from the focal point of this shows point....to survive TOGETHER you need to work TOGETHER! So why they chose to, or it seemed as though they added sparks to already smoldering fires. Especially with the second team of Joe Teti and Cody. That constant bickering and argumentative attitude wasn't anywhere near the continuity of the first duo of Dave and Cody. Which is why like MANY OR MOST of the commenters here, they liked them the best. Same here!

It is obv completely staged man. Also the tips they give are often really bad but still it is very entertaining lol

@@EdsterIII To be fair, in a real survival situation with multiple, there more likely will be animosity and conflict. But yeah, it’s a reality tv show. their skills are real, but the show is highly scripted, staged, etc.

@@jimthomas1989 he apologized for embellishing himself and admitted he only lied to stand out among applicants. Even if he wasn’t actually special forces he was still very qualified and definitely excelled during the show

I totally disagree with you, Dave is the one bringing the bacon to the table that sustains a man. Cody only brings a few vegetable that only sustain short term.

i usually side with Dave but you guys really arent giving Cody enough credit. Even Dave can admit how valuable cody is. He knows and does what peoples did before any modern invention. He could literally sustain himself in multiple environments. He goes out and teaches people primal survival in arizona. Say what you want but i bet you couldnt do it. The difference is, Dave could recognize another survivor, even if he frustrated him

Here dude...a comment I read 5 days back: ChriswithaK 5 days ago Fun story: my uncle met Dave in a motorcycle bar a few years back and they were talking and said he recognized him from the show Dave ended up saying he hates Cody that he is a lunatic lol

It was because Dave embellished his resume and lied about some things regarding his history. I think it's BS because he clearly knew his stuff and he and Cody were wonderful together. But the show had to take a stand and get rid of him for being less than truthful.

@@Pack.Leader Both of the above comments have some truth to them. The fact is that there were two alpha dogs with two very different survival skill sets. But hey that's what the show was aiming for in the first place 🤣 I've read Cody's book "98 Degrees" cover to cover multiple times, and while it's unorthodox, it works. The heck I'd ever run around barefoot willingly though. I'm a military man and lean towards going heavy on kit like Dave Canterbury. But the older I get the more I am trying to go lightweight... the more I fashion what I can naturally and the more gear I leave at home every trip. Knowledge weighs nothing and will eventually keep you alive in the field longer after even the best gear gets lost, damaged or just wears out. The best long term strategy and best training is a mix of both Cody and Dave 🤠👍
