Some people focus on Situational awareness in cities and urban areas. Others focus on survival skills for wilderness environments. Some focus just on guns; others just on combatives.
What about when you are in the wilderness needing to be aware because your combatives (and most guns) wont help you?
Think Bears, Lions, Strong Arm Robbers... These are all mammals. They all fight and that is how the make their living. They are good at it.
Enter Randy "Rawhide" Wurst, from "Wurst-Case Scenario" Survival School.
We all love Randy, as he is a Special Forces legend and total walking library of information that you just can't find anywhere else.
Sit back and enjoy a solid dose of Randy wisdom. I hope you enjoy the video. TR.

Went into the mountains out in Montana last year. Ran across a mother grizzly and her cubs during a storm. The mother was 15 yards from me and stood up on her hind legs and all I had was a Henry .17hmr. Now I have a 45-70🙏

people think they make a lot of noise... These predators are remarkably silent. I was in a camp where a black bear was only feet away from about 25 guys gathered around a large fire...we only saw it because someone pulled their car up closer and his headlights revealed a massive black bear, trying to squeeze his head into a pot of baked beans. Scared the shit out of me... I have also been to Belize and had a private tour of their zoo, only they opened the park at about midnight for us. They had 3 juvenile/adult Jaguars, one of the most impressive animals that I have ever seen, they were very active. The guide told me that there were 3 cats but we all only saw 2. We were very close to the cage and had flashlights. Still no 3rd cat, when suddenly, only a few feet directly Infront, the 3rd cat yawned. He was jet black and had been a few feet away the whole time, and we had flashlights!

As a Chicagoan I can tell you that the Bears weakest point has always been the passing game, just blitz after they yell hike and force a bad pass that can be intercepted. All kidding aside, that was quite sobering to hear that a bear can essentially be a zombie for 5 minutes. This is the content that entertains, educates, and very possibly could save lives.

Because of my father I was urged to study Jim Bridger and Jeremiah Johnson. All early frontiersman who recorded brutal accounts of combat with grizzly, natives, wolverines, cougars and other threats have similar tales which outlined the hard life they were living. Anyone who would try to develope their bushcraft to any level of competency should study the early pioneers like Rodgers, Boone, and Kit Carson.

All great. But the Natives were way ahead of them. Mountain men learned from the natives. At 14 you left on your spirit walk. A knife n a bow. A bit of jerky. Came back after your vision. Id say not all came back. But those that did, fought an animal for the right to come back.

Indeed great info. This past fall hunting season here in Arkansas I had both a bear and a lion encounter. To my relief neither encounter became physical. What it did was give me pause to know that when I'm in the Woods I'm not the top of the food chain.

A woodsman my family hunted with in western AR was stalked by a black panther years ago. He told the story when he got back and said "we're not going back for the deer or that panther." Of course, AR wildlife dept. will tell you there are no black panthers in AR. Bears are bad now also. Bad in OK as well as mountain lions.

@@johnovanic9560 At least 10mm is a good round that packs a punch. As far as going alone, we can't always go with buddies, but I understand. I do it many times myself. I will carry my 357 revolver. We are starting to see a rise in the predator population up here in the NE and the DNR says we don't have wolf, mountain lions up here but yet people are catching them on their trail cameras. We have black bear but they are usually very skiddish of humans as they are hunted. Self awarenesses is key.

When I lived in the Pa mountains my yard was like a bear super highway, there's some video on my channel, but it's not great. The thumbnail of the video is a big 600+lb male that used to come through my yard all the time though. Here in Ky I have 2 kinds of poisonous snakes on my homestead, copperheads and water moccasins. They scare me way more.
