I had a friend who used to spend hours watching literal camping videos “like literaly “how to set up a tent” and “best survival food to buy and bring to the mountain”” because he said the world might colapse and shit and I told him “my friend, this man is just teaching you how to go camping, if the world collapses, you’re just gonna go camping and then die in the mountains. Then I tried to inteoduce him to more realistic survival stuff, like documentaries of nomadic herding tribes from the east and solitary gaucho shepherds from hispanic america, but he got bored. My point being you don’t need to know how to set up a tent and cook food you’ve bought, you need to know how to get food and water out there (and shelter depending on where you live), hunting and gathering shrooms sparragus snails all kinds of stuff. Also, I can give you a channel that can help but it is in spanish and it is not focused on survival but rather on spanish traditions, the thig is it unintentionally often turns out to be an accidental survival guide that teaches you ancient buildig techniques, how to grow food and gather all sorts of stuff as well as artesany and stuff which makes it way better than all those clickbait american “survival” nuts. Я как наученный жизнью говорю всегда, что лучше бензиновую горелку использовать. То, что на видео показано это как один из вариантов в тех случаях, когда её нет. Потому что, чтобы костёр от зажигалки и тем более спички развести нужно постараться от мелкого хвороста к крупному перейти. Сразу крупняк не получится зажечь, с бензиновый горелкой же ты насобирал палок не батоня их, поднёс грелку и со временем они загорится все равно под постоянным огнём. Бывают случаи когда сыро на улице, когда ты припарковался у речки где только влажные палки, а идти назад за сухими через паханные поля очень силозатратно. Выкиньте свои спички охотничьи и обычные, зажигалки, они вас подведут в действительно трудной ситуации. Особенно спички, которые намокают, их огонь сдувает ветром, горят они очень непродолжительное время - это просто смерть сразу

It's a fire disc or cooking disc, they last around 30 minutes, long enough to boil water or cook a small food portion, you should be able to find these in army surplus stores and about anywhere that sells Coleman campfire products, or you can make them yourself by taking a tea candle out of the aluminum holder, shred up a cotton ball and stuff that into the aluminum holder, meanwhile take a spoonful of petroleum jelly and melt that along with your wax, pour it into the holder with the cotton in it, use maybe half or two thirds of the cotton ball!

If it gets wet, the lighter itself may stop working, but this idea is good for very windy weather (but not in the forest, please)
