Snow camping in a £40 ultralight tarp setup from Aliexpress... what could possibly go wrong.

@@nickbrown9757 😳 the prices on AliExpress seem to variable and random discounts etc. It's available from a lot of different sellers, Flames Creed is another one. Worth seeing if any of them are better value and whether you can buy the tarp and bivy inner together.

Most of the time, although these days you can get spacious tents that weigh next to nothing if you're prepared to spend big bucks. If you're not you sleep in an AliExpress bing bag like me!

Trying to keep it PG! I was swearing a fair bit setting up the sleeping bag etc the night before. Kept catching my coat hood on the tarp when trying to get in. I think off camera I'm often losing my mind a little.

I think it was a really good video all in all. People think I'm crazy because I like to go tarp camping in crappy weather. My favorite setup is the plow point. It's real easy to set up and with a 3mx3m tarp, you have lots of room.

Cheers. It was a comfy camp really, lovely and cosy. That sleeping bag is enough to keep you warm without any shelter I reckon!

It's a good tarp but it sags allot when it gets damp because of the nylon fabric. I recommend using alternate shelter fabrics. My sleeping bag got whet after the tarp sagged.

Yes, that is an issue with Nylon. It did say a fair bit on this camp, combination of damp and ice weighing it down. You can always tension it again, but that is a pain.

@@TheWalkingKev yeah great video BTW, always fun to see someone go out in the elements. don't blame you at all. I had it a long time before I got this video. I'm getting my yama mountain gear cirriform 2p tarp soon. It's relatively affordable if you know someone in the US to get it for you. It's my entry level lightweight 3+ season shelter.

I really enjoyed it... Although the cold rain was a bit grim for the pack down! Such a shame we didn't get more snow. Would have been perfect then.

Thanks. I did think initially I was not going to enjoy tarps, but so far I am. It looked confined, but I was cosily reading and relaxing. Just a bit of faff to get in and out.

Being able to see outside - you described the great thing about hammock camping or cot and tarp 👍😊 Good bits of lot though and resilient! Check out the Exped Downmat 7 👍

Watch out for my 2 dogs and I, we walk that area at night regular! I’m in Iceland at the moment, so missed the uk snow, it’s glorious weather here!

Just as well you're in Iceland then otherwise I might have had some night visitors! Enjoy Iceland, supposed to be amazing - albeit the most expensive place on earth!

Posh boy roughing it... Why dont you buy some second gand gloves ha... Youre hands must of been freezing, I wear gloves from October to April otherwise my fingers go numb.

I had some gloves on me but I try to avoid wearing them when I can because I can't do much when wearing them. I normally wear some cheap fingerless gloves but I can't find them at the moment!
