Just seeing this. We twist strapped every north rafter while we were replacing our soffits this year ..Boy I'm thankful.

Steel straps at the roof and foundation are #1 but windows are the other weak point. If a window fails the wind can get inside and push out walls. Water intrusion makes the sheetrock crumble away from the nails and the walls lose strength.

I love using Simpson Strong tie every building that I build. cause I live in island of south korea, A typhoon come every summer of every year... I'm worry what the strong typhoon will come in this island ...so It is only one thing that I believe is the tie like hole down.. rafter tie ..

DID YOU NOT LEARN ANYTHING FROM HURRICANE ANDREW IN MIAMI ? CONCRETE BLOCK BECAME MANDATORY AFTER THAT ALONG WITH THE TIES.....IT SHOULD BE THAT WAY NEAR ANY COAST IN OUR COUNTRY PERIOD....

When they rebuild they will go through insurance protocols ( the lowest bid …) you don’t get hight quality construction with guys like that.
