In this episode of Wandering Wagners we test our survival skills with a Midwest heat wave at Versailles State Park, Indiana.
Temps were well into the 90's without humidity factored in and in June, that is pretty rare in the Midwest. The heat wave lasted for a few weeks too but we decided to camp in it anyway. We tested running our AC while we did a parking lot lunch stop for ‪@hooters‬ . The AC ran perfectly just as we expected with our ‪@VictronEnergyBV‬ Multi Plus II inverter paired with our two ‪@Redodopower‬ 410 Ah batteries. Hooters on the other hand.. Lynn loves their fish tacos but this was the WORST fish tacos I've ever had, anywhere.
We arrived at Versailles State Park only to see our site was VERY sloped to the point where we were almost 20" off level to the rear so we had to scramble to see if we could switch sites. Luckily the heat wave helped us on this front because there were several cancellations that day which opened up a few sites and after multiple phone calls with the campground attendant we were able to secure a different site that was a lot more level.
We did some great grilling, hiking, rode our ‪@LectriceBikes‬ which were so much fun and a great way to beat the heat. The pool here at this state park was awesome as well. The pool did cost $3 per day for entry, public was allowed and they had 15 minute breaks every hour, which were pretty pointless. Letting the public in kept the pool rather busy but we had a fun time either way!
We would love to come back to this park in the winter to do more hiking trails for sure, especially since it was too hot for the dogs to hike.
