In this episode, I prepare for a winter storm and share some survival tips inspired by the History Channel's ALONE show. Please visit my website to get more information: www.melanie-sawyer.com/
You'll learn the importance of having enough firewood, handling pesky mice in your sleeping bag, and creative ways to keep your shelter warm and cozy. Watch how I use seasoned driftwood and even an underwire from a bra to make a needle for emergency repairs!
You can always use more wood. I know it's a joke, but seriously, you will always burn more than you think you need. When you're burning in a survival shelter, you've also got to keep a close eye on sparks and resin, so I headed straight to the water's edge and started harvesting seasoned driftwood.
So, there was no resin and seasoned, so there was less smoke. Also, it was lightweight and easy to see down into burning sizes, which is a win-win in my books!
Oh yes, it was open season on Deer Mouse. One of the little blighters gnawed through my sleeping bag and started removing the padding. I took the initiative to sort that out.
