I "recovered" almost two months ago and I still cannot breathe well. Basic activities exhaust me. Every breath is work. I'm exhausted all the time. I have to return to work soon and wonder how I am going to do a physically demanding job when I can't climb a flight of stairs without hyperventilating.

Hi: I survived Covid late last July I was suppose to die. In fact I did code one time I was told don't remember. Had to go to rehab for another month couldn't walk I was so weak and even when I came home couldn't walk. Thank God I can walk now and drive my car. I can't quit talking about what happened to me. It's as if I need help processing it. I wish more professionals could help us that had the really bad cases of the virus. Although I know the healthcare workers were doing all the could at the time. I just don't know what comes next.

@@soletechHD Well I had a pain on my left side that wouldn't go away. It slowly kept getting worse for the next 3 days. Then I woke up in the middle of the night in unbearable pain in my chest, side, left arm, and trouble breathing. Went to the emergency room thinking I was having a heart attack, tbh. They were able to diagnose the PE properly, tho. Fortunately, it was caught early enough that surgery wasn't needed. Had to spend a few days in the hospital. Terrifying experience.

@N M Well if that's the issue then this interview should've never have been conducted at all to begin with. Otherwise, what's the point? Also, people (especially those without insurance) should need to know what what they could end up having to pay if they ever end up contracting the virus. So it is a totally legit reason to ask.

On January 15th, I went to ER because I had flu and my breathing was becoming labored. About 6 hours later, I went into respiratory failure and was on a ventilator for 20 days. I am 56 years old and had no chronic medical conditions. I was overweight and out of shape. I was diagnosed with Influenza A that turned into ARDS. When I woke up, I could not move anything. I could not talk. After 9 weeks in hospital and assisted living I was able to go home. I had to use supplemental oxygen when I did any activity. It has been another 2 months and I am off oxygen and I am starting to feel about as good as I was before I got sick. I will just have to wait and see how much more fit I will be able to get. I had some scarring in my lungs, but the doctors didn't mention that I would have diminished capacity and I was afraid to push the question. I just took a Covid anti-body test and will get results in a day or two. I am hoping that I had the coronavirus and that is the reason I got so sick. That way I don't have to be paranoid moving forward. If it turns out that I had the virus, it would be evidence that the virus was around in mid January in Orange County California. Well see.

I also survived corona!! I already had copd to begin with. And I thought once I had gotten it, that I had been given a death sentence!! But miraculously I survived corona!! But it left me with a bad cough and it hurts to breathe. I can't even clean my own apartment without running out of breath and I end up having to sit down on and off while cleaning, and vacuuming. I found out a few years ago that I can have a carer come in once a week to clean for me and to help with daily tasks. I have always been independent. So in the past I wouldn't dream of asking for charity. But after covid/corona I am in a situation to where I need to be humble enough to ask for help now. Corona/covid made my copd issues much worse. I cannot even keep up with my granddaughter. I don't have a car, so I cannot go shopping for food when I have money. So I end up having to buy food from the convenience store from across the street. They are so overpriced there too. So I end up spending my 250$ I get to live on for the month, after rent and bills, on that store. So the last two weeks of the month I eat bread and rice. I cannot walk to the store which 20 blocks away. So I think it's time to reach out and accept a carer

I was diagnosed with copd before, by one doctor and the other four i saw all had different answers. Young though so when i got a cough I shrugged it off. Since I am in chicago and got it so mild i figured i shouldn't add to the congestion in the hospital. What surprised me the most is after i got it i obviously gave what ever it was to my mom who is sickly and I care for and she had problems in her left lung for about a week ,once again very mild, but seemed to shrug it off too. Hopefully when this all calms down i can find an antibody test. Edit: also know someone who basically just drugged their way through it, and that one is confirmed since she got arrested for driving around knowing she had corona but thinking it was fine since she felt fine. You could cut off my leg and i would feel fine if i was on the cocktail of drugs she had.

I suspect the spreading started to happen in December of last year. I have family in Cali so I flew to visit them b4 Christmas, @ the airport I didn't touch much other than the chairs, on the airplane the same but I played a chess game on a touch screen tablet, later when I arrived I started to have an itchy throat & at night started to feel like a cold, long story short I infected the whole family, it was the worst Christmas ever 4 everyone, what really surprised me was the speed that took to get me sick then the whole family... I'm not sure if it was the corona virus or just a plain cold but I suspect it was due to the speed that took to make everyone sick at home, I recovered without going to the hospital & my family too but I wonder if it was.

I know two persons who recovered. They lost a great part of their lung capacity as if they had been smoking for years. Oximeter also indicates lower level of oxygen. I believe this could affect other organs in the long run leading to various diseases. I use a peak flow meter to monitor my lung function. It can be purchased from Walgreen or Amazon for $20+ dollars. Google provides a chart of normal lung peak expiratory flow as a function of sex, age and height.

Some girl from my HS thinks Corona is a hoax. While I used to think in the beginning this was an overreaction, while it does have a high survival rate, it is insanely contagious. Even if you survive, its not pleasant to have, no matter how old you are. I found out a few days ago my grandmother has it. Her health has been failing for a while so I accepted she was on her way out, but not like this. She deserves a proper celebration of her life and she won't get that.

Being young and healthy never helped me that much but I thank almighty God for showing mercies on me I’m alive today but I really sweat a lot after even cutting my lawn grass whereas I never used to sweat before, I feel exhausted after small tasks like standing for 5 mins I developed breathing problems a little bit but was diagnosed for acute bronchitis, was given steroids that never worked for me and I had to get some antibiotics, I really feel stressed 😩 besides that I really had to fight my way to get medical help, before was confirmed positive I had tested negative but this still made medical city appointment to be canceled after the lady who was trying to help me get medical help begging them for so long I was told to go to a different hospital, this time I had breathing problems and was coughing blood but they rejected me that time, a lot of stigma with this covid 19 hope y’all doing okay and wish you quick recovery and please share tips how you helped yourself for others to follow to be out of danger hospitals will tell. I realize that Covid19 affects each person differently my wife had it was sick, they told her as long as she could breathe and manage almost normal functions not to come to the Dr they sent her a home test kit and she was positive. I was with her so I was exposed. Never even felt bad or suffered any symptoms. Either I had such a mild case that it was like nothing or I didn’t even get it at all. I’m wondering why it kills some and others very mild symptoms or no symptoms at all?

@Michael Suryadi while immune system strength plays a role, it's not as simple as just having a "better" immune system. Some people with strong immune systems overreact to the virus and get really sick due to cytokine storm, while others with mild immune suppression ("weaker" immune systems) do not. It's a form of genetic lottery: you either have genes that make you susceptible to this particular virus or you don't.

@@kevin_parkerson right but why would a husband not be impacted the way his wife is. I'll assume they share a similar life style and close to the same age. Also why are some countries off so much worse than others? I know intervention and prevention play a role, however why such a big disparity in death rate in a place like Italy as compared to say Germany? I speculate that genetics play a larger role in severity than is currently known. It is pure speculation from me though.

the guy in the video said he went from easily running 3 miles a day to barely being able to walk half a mile. COVID-19 does some serious damage to the lungs. There's a guy on KZfaq who works in the medical field and he explains exactly how the virus progresses and draws it all out on a whiteboard so that it's easy to understand. The virus hijacks the alveoli in the lungs and breaks down the cell structure of the alveoli and uses the components of the alveoli to replicate itself. It basically shreds the alveoli up like a blender and then the alveoli releases liquid into lungs eventually submerging the alveoli which is why it's almost impossible for some people to breathe without a respirator after they are infected. Respirators force the oxygen thru the liquid and into the alveoli causing even more damage to the lungs due to the high air pressure required to be used to be effective, but at least it gives people a chance to survive. I've heard it estimated that once you get to the point where you require a respirator to breathe your odds of survival drop to 50%.
