It's amazing that in less than a year, Google's message (in word and by example) is telling blog content creators to not rely on Google. An amazing and baffling reversal against what any company in Google's position would want to do.

didn't know I would be saying this but... in the midst of all the doom and gloom, I feel kinda excited and hopeful as I watch this video. Mindset shift is soo important. What you said in the beginning brings such a proactive shift in how we perceive the changes in life, in general. Yes there's a lot of work that need to be done, lots to learn and evolve, but that's what life is about. Everything happens for a reason. I think this google "apocalypse" update really put fires under our bottoms so we keep learning and growing instead of being passively hidden in the shadows.

Pinterest has saved my website too… I was nearly giving up…. Traffic is even now more than double what google traffic was😂

I will try Pinterest again. I am in a female industry and this should work for Pinterest. Will focus on a more popular topic. Used to pin 20 pins per day. No traffic. Good ad copy and design. Might have been the topic.😮😮

Excellent video as always, thank you, Ricky, yes, on it, thanks for the excellent tips. We have a very creative mind, we humans are amazing and have the ability to survive no matter what. Totally agree 👍🏼 with the specific tips. Also, thank you for sharing it, real time, Wow, no one really does this. We will only know after the fact. I think, except your channel, I haven't seen many walk the talk, share the reality as you do it. Appreciate the video and the research. The ending will touch many of us. I think all this disruptive change will actually bring out the best version of each of us we have neve seen before ourselves.

If easy traffic from Google is not really available anymore then does this change the way we write blog posts? Wouldn't you cater 100 percent to the user experience and nothing else if you can't rely on google anymore?

We've always catered more toward user experience than to Google. That said, there's still value in ensuring you meet the recommended criteria for on-page SEO for most search engines. Just because Google is unreliable doesn't mean they'll never send you traffic, nor does it block other search engines from sending you traffic. But you should absolutely cater to the human user of your website. That's your real customer and it's easier to retain a customer than to replace one.

Just a thought Ricky, but given Google's preference for brands, in particular larger brand sites with multiple authors, is it time for small bloggers in similar niches to join together/collaborate and create content at scale?

I definitely think it makes sense for bloggers to work together. Even if it means writing content on each other’s sites. But I also think you can get the benefit of having multiple authors by paying people with experience in your industry to write helpful content. I’ll be showing this in a video soon!

@@lavellelee5734 Everything we already teach and do is still working on other search engines. I have tons of content ranking really well on those search engines, and most Project 24 members do to. The issue is that most users aren't using other search engines. But the worse Google gets, I think the more people will use them. I'm going to see if I can accelerate that a little... 😁

What about using platforms like TikTok OR Instagram? Do those platforms have a lot of potential to drive traffic?

Short form video content doesn't do a good job of really converting people to a brand or to a product, but it can help with brand visibility. So I think these platforms have their place and can be really effective. They're not going to be my primary focus though. Not unless I have something else that's solid first.

So: Give up SEO because Google decision makers lost their minds and don't reward great content anymore? As the owner of a SEO agency I give my customers the recommendation to start a KZfaq channel since years, but very few of them are willing to stand in front of a camera or able to create a competitive personal impression. Moreover it depends on the branch. I miss the time when Ricky and Jim gave great advices for Google SEO.

I didn’t say to give up SEO or blog content. I’m making suggestions for growing a brand in the age when Google is penalizing sites that don’t have a brand. I’m calling it the way I see it. The days of easy traffic from Google through SEO are gone, at least for now.

Yes, but probably not all by itself. Blog content is still very valuable but you need to build a recognizable brand in your industry and have a purpose for the traffic you get. With those in mind, blogging is unquestionably worth it.

I wouldn’t. You might be able to get away with it but you can’t realistically add much value to the internet by reviewing products you haven’t used. Not anymore.

Google's search results are garbage at the moment. There's only one reason Google would do this; it thinks the alternative is even worse. This means Google doesn't know what to do with AI content. Eventually what will matter is whether your content is best (regardless of whether it's AI).

You finally admitted that blogging in the previous version will no longer work. I have the impression that you are the last person among the creators who informed their community on YT that blogging is dead :). Building a brand requires 10 times the amount of work and resources, as well as knowledge of many areas in this field. Of course, you have to start thinking differently, but blogging and brand building are not at the same level. Well, we have to start taking action...

I’ve actually been talking about the need to adapt for a while now and have been trying to teach principles of brand building for several years. But most people only wanted to hear the easy methods that, surprise, don’t work anymore.
