Sounds like Wilderness Camp, except they drop you off in the middle of no where, you hike in 7 miles with gear on your back, then set-up camp. No buildings, just sleeping in your tent. I sent my son on this experience when he was twelve (with other kids). No moms around to interfere, just the Guide, and college age camp volunteers. He came back with huge blood blisters on his feet, and nearly cut his finger off learning how to whittle. He said he had a blast, despite the pain. lol. I’m happy I sent him and didn’t push my own fears on him.

Did a 7 day Algonquin canoe trip When I was 17 to test out our orienteering skills. Half way through we lost the map but relied on our skills to make it back. Most enjoyable trip. Cousin of mine did A 60 day trip… It’s something every young Canadian man should do. It’s a rite of passage. Just make sure your J stroke is in good order.

There’s something to being in a canoe, staring deep into nature. Not too different than when they explored 400-500 years ago. Thanks for sharing. Liked the sauna set up. The Appalachian trail is another possibility.
