The Fundy Footpath is a 41 kilometres (25 mi) hiking trail that starts at the Fundy Trail Parkway from Big Salmon River to Fundy National Park in New Brunswick, Canada. The trail connects to the 33 kilometres (21 mi) Fundy Trail at Fundy National Park, which in turn connects to the Dobson Trail.[3] The trail's earliest route was blazed by Jack McKay in the early 1980s but it fell into disuse. It was reestablished by Alonzo and Gilles Leger along with many, many other volunteers throughout the late 1980 and early 90's. The trail was officially opened in 1994 under the management of the Fundy Hiking Trail Association Inc.
In 2015, Explore Magazine listed the Fundy Footpath as one of the 50 best hiking trails in the world.

Hey! That was me, the guy from PA with the dog. Yes, she is in fact a Siberian Husky! Great video. Very cool to see this hike at about the same time but going the opposite way. That was some picture perfect weather we had, eh? Anyway, thanks for the tip on Seeley beach. I ended up camping right about that same spot on my last night, and we had quite the sunrise! Best hike I've ever done. Thanks to your video from last year to help me plan it!

Awesome! I did it a few years ago and have been missing home (living in Alberta) so I decided to watch some footpath videos. Can’t wait to head back and for the day when I can take my young daughters out like this. I stayed in the exact same spot at Seeley. A bunch of chipmunks ate through the mesh pocket on my brand new Osprey pack that night as I had accidentally left a few peanuts in it.

Your girls will love the time out there with you. We have such amazing memories that are some of the highlights of my life. Seely is becoming an issue with animals now because of easy day hike access in from the new road. Lots of garbage, feeding animals etc... A shame

I love the fact that the girls have become so comfortable being on camera. They certainly are not afraid of voicing their options. 😂 their suggestions are sound. At least the ones you haven’t edited out! LOL

enjoyed the video; the orange blazes dropping into and coming out of quiddy river mark property lines (irving freehold)
@HowestheHike
@HowestheHike 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Paul. I assumed property markers at first - having grown up in the area - but did not want to guess in case those watching thought I knew 100%. Would be super helpful if this sort of stuff made it into the next guidebook.

Great video, thank you because there's not much out there on the Fundy Footpath. Have you tried the Cape Chignecto Trail in Nova Scotia? It's literally on the opposite side of the Bay of Fundy; much better payoff for the effort; spectacular views around every corner.

Hi! I enjoyed your video! Do you have any advice on whether it would be better to start the hike in Fundy National Park, or at Big Salmon? I am planning to do the footpath this summer, and trying to decide which direction to take! Any advice would be appreciated!
@HowestheHike
@HowestheHike Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Direction is a persona preference to be honest. the Fundy end is FAR more "remote" felling due to all the development at the other end for the Fundy Parkway. (cars, cars, cars, people, people, people....) So it depends if you want to escape the hubbub in a day and a half, or walk towards it.

Good afternoon, first off thank you for all the great info you provide for everyone 😀 So my guy and I are planning on doing the Fundy footpath starting this Sunday, we did the Presidential traverse in New Hampshire a few years ago and so my question is have you hiked in the Whites before ? And if so is the Presidential traverse comparable in difficulty with the Fundy footpath ? I'm a little nervous lol Any advice/ encouraging tips would be appreciated
@HowestheHike

Thanks! You will be fine. If you have done that, you are in great shape!! Hike your own hike at your own pace. That’s really the key. And enjoy!!!!

Easier to start at the end you did or the other?
@HowestheHike
@HowestheHike 3 жыл бұрын
Not sure it really matters. The end near Fundy National Park is more secluded and as bit more rugged - so once you hit it, your legs are under you and pack is a bit lighter. I like to head toward isolation, so with all the parkway incursions now, it feels more wild starting where we did and leaving the hoards.

Would you consider trekking poles mandatory?
@HowestheHike
@HowestheHike 4 жыл бұрын
I would say it depends on the trail. For the FFP - I would almost say yes, you will want them. Lots of places you could lose balance, or need help when it is steep. But, as always, it is an individual decision!
