Why did you have the same teacher in middle school and high school? I went to a different school in 6th (school was all 6th graders), 7th (school was all 7th graders), 8th (school was all 8th graders), and 9th grade (normal high school) so that wouldn’t have been possible for me.

You know les is a smart guy, not with the survival skills, but the fact that to this day he can release these for free without some company holding him back!
@Arcin3214 жыл бұрын
Well I mean he literally produced it. He filmed it all it's 100% his. When it comes to editing/broadcasting it just comes to what they are allowed to show on public broadcast. As well as how quick they can show it. Like a 4 hour camp build but in 30 seconds. His knowledge in surviving skills is insane... He's learned survival tactics from practically every edge of the world so it's just weird for me to see you say - he's not a smart guy with survival skills. And more about how he just puts it on KZfaq. If I got lost and had one survival expert in the world with me it'd be Les. Good damn chance we're both living by the end of it.
@Arcin3214 жыл бұрын
I think he's extra smart to reap the extra benefits from KZfaq on the side at this day and age, and coming out with extra directors content stuff which is awesome to watch btw! It's cool to hear the inside story from the man himself, you should check em out!
@tannerchaffin92354 жыл бұрын
@@Arcin321 I mean, if my knowledge is correct on copyright law, just because you film and do something, it doesn't automatically become yours. For instance, who paid Les to do these things? Who purchased the camera equipment? Who pays the crew, accommodations, etc? The Discovery channel owns/owned these episodes because they aired them and most likely funded them. Perhaps some time period was placed on them becoming Les' property, but I'm almost 100% certain that he hadn't owned them this entire time.

22:40 I really appreciate that Les says this and makes it clear that, while the show is intended to be educational, they are still trying to entertain the audience, which is why they set challenges like having to find your own way back to safety. If there's one thing you should almost never do in a real survival situation, it's try to self rescue. Only if you KNOW no one is looking for you, or if you have no other choice, should you try. Normally, your best bet is to stay put and do everything you can to make your presence known to anyone that may be in the area.

Is it just me or does this episode come off as more intense than others? Maybe it’s because this is earlier on in Les’s Survivorman career, but you can feel his stress in this one (especially during that first night in the jungle). It’s interesting comparing it to the last episode, where he stays out in another jungle. He says “In the jungle you just have to get used to the fact that things crawl on you at night”. It’s as if it all comes full circle. Whatever it is, this is the episode that made me realize that Les is really out there. Like I actually realize that his in a dangerous environment and could potentially die. The viewer knows that Les survives, but he doesn’t know while he’s filming.

@miked1237 Жыл бұрын
I got those vibes too. At the beginning he only stayed at the shore line, like he was hesitant to go in the jungle, trying to feel out the area first. Can't blame him, those jungles are full of things that'll kill ya, the plants, the bugs, the predators. It's also incredibly easy to get turned around and end up lost, that's game over. Super intense, probably one of the most dangerous place he's ever been and he captured it so well, his apprehension and caution was palpable. Les is and always will be a badas; Survivorman

With the heat there's always a way to cool down, if its cold there's not always a way to get warm

In survival situation I think cold/ snowy region is the main killer. In hot desert you can at least take shade only move at night to preserve energy, but in cold environment just Keeping body temperature itself is already consume so much energy. Let alone finding something to eat. Keeping body temperature is more important in survival rule of three
@MrRugercat45 Жыл бұрын
I’m with you on hating the heat, it’s unbearable here in Tennessee from pretty much April through October, and I can’t stand hot weather. Put me somewhere cold wet and foggy or snowy and I’m fine. Even the desert is better because it’s dry heat and it cools off at night. Here it gets over 100 degrees regularly. Makes parts of your body stick together that weren’t meant to be stuck together. 🦇

I live in Costa Rica and my dad used to go hiking for weeks and this was 30 years ago and from the story’s he told me like finding 50-70 foot waterfalls and some of his friends jumping of them.

Loved survivor man, I love your KZfaq channel. I love that you tell it as it is. If it's tough you say it is, but you teach good lessons that could save lives. I'm soaking up your wisdom, Less

I just got back from Osa, and it really is that nuts. It's just packed with life. Impenetrable forest. It's beautiful, but definitely a deadly place to get stranded. What doesn't quite show here is how hilly the jungle is. You can't just walk through it in a straight line. Everything's a big, treacherous hill. It's impossible. You're definitely better off staying on the beach and picking a direction. It would be a strenuous, scorching hike, but you'd get to a house or something in at most probably 30km. There's also a lot of boats, so that gives you a decent chance too.

I'm a coconut! "NUT" you're making my mouth water.. . My dad was a Woodsman of the world!!! As well as all of our relatives!!! I was six or seven when he brought home the first coconut I never seen!!! Didn't like it then! but I love it now.. .

Man, i remember watching these with my dad when they first came out. Whats fascinating to me (besides all of the badass-ness of Les Stroud) is how much camera tech. has improved in such a short amount of time. I mean, check out that underwater camera lol and think about the newest go-pros now. Just crazy.

I'd kill to see him one do one last episode for fun. After the Covid 1-9 Joke episode I realized how he hasn't lost his touch and is still just as entertaining and endearing, so to see him do one last episode would be killer. If not then I totally get it, I mean reliving all these episodes for free is a gratitude I cannot express in words. Thank you, Les

I propose Survivorman - The Hood. Seven days in the Southside without a gun, knife or pepper spray. Have Les subsist on convenience store groceries or go dumpster diving at various fast-food joints. Alternate locations - Atlanta, Memphis, St. Louis...

@RM Mussolini ...You try sleeping on the ground, covered in ants, without a pillow, with the constant screeching noise of the cicadas on an empty stomach when you haven't showered in days. I'm surprised he wasn't damn near crying. I would be! Even if I planned getting stuck out there like he did!

The night footage of all the bugs moving around is exactly why I'm scared of traveling and visiting places that aren't a very urban city. *shudders*

LOL urbanites are pathetic.

Honestly, I kinda get it. Especially if the bugs we're talking about are poisonous or have a nasty bite. I'd be willing to camp outside here in Canada (maybe just because it's where I live and I sorta know all the bugs around here), but send me to Australia and NAH nah I'm staying in my hotel. ...Around here we don't even have cockroaches. I know they're harmless but I still wouldn't want to say hi to a colony of them.

THANK YOU!!! I appreciate you posting your work for free. You truly care about passing on knowledge. (I know he gets ad revenue but still, this used to be on T.V and now we can watch it without paying)
