+74Robinos Both "Eye of the Tiger" (1982) and "Burning Heart" (1985) were written especially for Rocky movies (Rocky III and Rocky IV, respectively). "Man Against the World" was also written for Rocky IV, but didn't get used so Survivor put it on their 6th album "When Seconds Count" from 1986. Sylvester Stallone first heard Survivor's song "Poor Man's Son" off of their album "Premonition" (I believe it was in 1980 or 1981) and liked the heaviness of the beat and asked them to do a song for Rocky III... the rest is history. :D

Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple/Rainbow): "I had seen Jimi in Survivor and was very impressed. I remember going down to Tennessee to meet him and I really liked him as a person. He then came up to try out with Deep Purple. We did one song, I think it was 'Going Down' and he was so good I immediately stopped playing and just said, 'You're in!' He said, 'Don't you want to do more songs?' I said, 'No, you are so damn good, I know that you are perfect for the job.' We went out and celebrated at a restaurant. I was full of ideas due to his melodic, soulful voice, and he could improvise much better than a lot of singers I knew so he had every aspect I was looking for in a singer. Very, very nice guy. Very humble. Unfortunately, two weeks later, we were told he couldn't join the band. We never found out why. I think it had something to do with the management. I was surprised and saddened by what happened, and it was a mystery to me what had gone down. It was a bad moment for me. I rated him as one of the top singers in the country."

On September 1, 2014 Jamison died of what was believed to be a heart attack in his home in Memphis, TN, at the age of 63. His autopsy released on November 11, 2014 revealed the actual cause of death to be a hemorrhagic brain stroke, with "acute methamphetamine intoxication contributing.

Im a 46yrs old black man from the hood near Chicago grew up listening to hip hop as a adolescent to my adult years I have memories of listening to 80s rock music as a kid and I actually enjoy it more as an adult a lotta of the rap music today is trash this is real music.

I’m a black woman from the hood and I feel the same way! I loved it then and even more now as an adult! This is real Music. People with a message that anyone can relate to. Love, struggle, trials, tribulations, triumph, defeat, getting knocked down and back up…..things with true meaning! I love music today but a lot of it is Nonsense. Reminds me of that paratrooper that got shot 16 times during the raid on St Nazaire, and still went on. Even the Germans were so impressed with him, after he finally was taken prisoner, and they suggested he should receive an Order of the British Empire or something like that after the war... Which he eventually got...
