YUMMY SUSHI
Preparation Time: 20 min
Cooking Time: 30 min.
Serving: 3-4 people
Ingredients:
For the Rice
1. Sushi rice 1.5 cup.
2. Rice vinegar ½ cup
3. Sugar 2 Tbsp
4. Salt 1 tsp
5. Water (for cooking) 1.5 cups.
For The Chicken
6. Sliced chicken breast piece 1 cup.
7. Garlic powder 1 tsp
8. Onion powder 1 tsp
9. Black pepper powder ½ tsp
10. Salt ½ tsp
11. Corn starch 1 Tbsp
12. Egg white 1
13. Oil 2 Tbsp
Sauce For the Chicken
14. Soy sauce 1 Tbsp
15. Tomato ketchup 1 Tbsp
16. Oyster sauce 1 Tbsp
17. Sugar 1 Tbsp
18. Water 2 Tbsp
For the Veggie Sushi
19. Cabbage
20. Carrot
21. Green onion
22. Red and orange bell peppers
*All the veggies are cut into juliennes.
23. White vinegar ½ cup
24. Sugar 1.5 tsp.
25. Salt ½ tsp.
26. Nori/seaweed as required.
Procedure:
27. Wash the rice and soak it for 30-50 min.
28. Put the rice in a pan and add 1.5 cups of water (the same cup we measured the rice).
29. Lid on. Cook the rice on medium heat until it starts to boil. Then cook for 2-3 min.
30. Lower the heat to low and cook for 10 min. Note that we will not open the lid at all.
31. After 10 min, turn off the heat. Cover the pan with a towel and leave it for 20 min.
32. Take ½ cup of rice vinegar in a cup. Add 2 Tbsp of sugar and 1 tsp of salt. Mix well.
33. After 20 min transfer the rice into a wide bowl. Add the vinegar in 2 batches. Use a spatula to mix the vinegar properly.
34. Cover the rice to keep it warm.
35. Add garlic, onion, and black pepper powder to the chicken. Add salt.
36. Add cornstarch and egg white. Mix well.
37. Heat a pan and 2 Tbsp of oil. Add the chicken pieces.
38. Cook for 2-3 min on one side. Then flip them. Cook for another 2-3 min.
39. Add the sauce and cook until the moisture goes. It is done.
*We can cook this chicken while the rice is cooking.
40. For the veggies, mix white vinegar, sugar, and salt and add to the veggies. Leave it for 10-15 min.
41. We do not use any vinegar or sugar/salt for veggies with the chicken.
42. Place the sushi mat on your working surface. Put nori on it. Put the shiny side down.
43. Wet your palms with water. Take a handful of rice and spread it evenly on the nori. Keep ½ inch of space at the end.
44. Arrange the veggies and place the chicken pieces on top. Now, roll the mat along with the nori to shape the sushi. Similarly, make the veggie sushi.
45. Take a wet paper towel or kitchen towel. Wipe your knife with it.
46. Cut the sushi from the center into halves. Then make pieces.
47. Serve with wasabi paste or any dipping sauce of your choice.
