I looked out the window to see police on the ground with rifles pointed up at the apt. Later, 2 Bearcats were brought in and like 13 Law Enforcement vehicles on the street many of them unmarked, and an ambulance or two.

It probably has been able to diffuse a situation, but not the way it's used by these kinds of people. "I'm not going to jail" makes sense if the cops are asking you to do something with the implication of "or else you're getting arrested." Like, "Hey, you need to leave now" [tresspassing] "Alright, alright, I'm not going to jail over this. I'll leave."

It almost always goes like this, Suspect : "I'm not going to jail!" / "I'm feeling threatened/in danger" / "Do you know who I am" / "I want your supervisor" Officer: "You're only being detained, not arrested, we just want to confirm/ask you a couple of things and figure things out from there, if you cooperate we'll make sure to end this quickly and you'll be on your way, or if you've done something wrong, we'll make sure to go easy on you (if you cooperate)" Suspect : "No" - proceeds to do something that is a cause for an arrest and makes a surprised Pikachu face when the cops don't want to cooperate with him or loosen his cuffs or talk.

He's speaking from training at that point. It actually takes more bandwidth to assess the situation and decide to stop talking than to just keep going. Same category as people who complain about cops yelling "show me your hands!" at people who are "clearly dead" or already holding their hands up. They aren't thinking about what they are saying primarily at that moment. This isn't a standard command but I doubt he's stopping to think whether it's appropriate to continue at this time or not.

I'll never understand these people. For so much professed desire to not want to go to jail, he sure is doing everything possible to ensure that. They gave him the option to walk away; he didn't. He knew that if he didn't he would be arrested. He even made sure to make it a felony trespass by bringing a firearm. Seems like he really wants to be in jail.

And tasers have an awkward range where if they fail/miss and the dude rushes you you won't be able to draw your gun. They've gotta be used only when another officer is there with his gun ready to go.

The dog isn't even the point, he was trespassed before and is back on the property he was trespassed from, that means either getting trespassed again or arrested. The dog is irrelevant. You can be trespassed for literally no other reason than "I don't want that person on the property" so the dog previously being described as "aggressive" does not matter for the second offense.

@@hardrightturn7502I’m not sure why, but the clip is poorly cropped in this video. If you visit the PoliceActivity channel, it’s a clearer image. The guy had a concealed gun, and managed to hit the cop whose POV we get during the shot. He was found to have a gun and a knife on him. And in the PoliceActivity video, if you play it frame by frame, you can see a small puff of smoke around the guy. It isn’t very obvious, as even afterwards the police don’t know what happened. Since it clearly wasn’t crossfire, the only logical answer is the guy fired it while being tased.
