Can Nishioka san come on the show and do an episode on how to return lefty's serve? Lefty's serve, especially slice serve is so hard to return!!

Great lesson! And a great reminder that a big backswing is not necessary for the service return. I find myself often taking big swings on the return, so I will remember this the next time I'm on the court!

Good morning STA, I have a question about returns of serve. If you are using a semi western grip for your forehand groundstrokes, do you use the same grip when returning a fast serve with a compact backswing?

Just finish your back swing when the ball bounces. Split step and then as ball touches start your back swing. Post bounce accelerate forward to the contact point and follow through.
