The 500 ran our home 6ft freezer unit for 10 hours from 100% charge. Hope this helps. So it can be used in an emergency at home for a short term power cut - one must assume therefore that the 1000w will give around twice that.

I got the Jackary 500 for my 7-week trip out to CA and back to TN. I set it up to charge from the car and it's 12v outlet was connected to my Apicool C20. The Jackary charging from the car easily kept up with the draw from the fridge. In a test, it ran the fridge for 48 hours and it consumed about 70% of the Jackary's battery. I also recommend getting Jackary's solar panel.

Thanks for the comparisons, Tristan, they are helpful. I own a 300W battery (not a Jackery) and it serves me quite well for powering personal electronics on extended weekend explorations. I'm looking to add a small 12V cooler to my kit next Spring so investing in the 500W Jackery (and perhaps a portable 100W solar panel) now will be a good decision.

Just FYI…I got the JACKERY 240, and, it runs my cpap in remote locations without power, for 8 hours, PLUS my phone and tablet while I watch videos/surf the net several hrs before I turn on the cpap and go to sleep. At the end of the night, I still have 34-38 % ….then it takes 4-4.5 hrs to recharge at home in the wall outlet. Btw I use the 110v wall adapter for my cpap, as I haven’t purchased the car adapter yet, and the tech at JACKERY said I could save an additional 15% from the power conversion if I do use the car adapter to power my cpap!!! I’m VERY impressed!!

I camp with a CPAP (Resmed S10) & a Jackery 240 and use a DC to DC adapter to reduce the power consumption of the CPAP (DC/DC is more efficient then DC/AC {outlet}) . 7 to 8 hours of use and the most I have used in one night was 40% of power with the humidifier off, heated hose off, and wifi off {plan mode}. Then I use a Rockpals 60W solar panel to top if off and I can go for days.

The 300 is a much better unit than the 240. The 300 has a newer style solar controller. MPPT on the 300 and PWM on the 240, so it will charge in about half of the time. I am guessing that once the supplies of the 240 are gone, it will no longer be offered.

Re your comment on the shortcomings of your roof mounted panel, I do not like a roof mounted solar panel because if you are in the sun for a recharge, you are baking hot. Put a leg on the panel along with a longer cable and place it in the sun. This way you can position the panel for optimal angle and orientation periodically throughout the day.

Those Jackerys are expensive. The 1000 watt Jackery holds about 46 amp hours. You can get a deep cycle marine battery that holds 200 amp hours for about the same price as the Jackery . 1000. Hooking up the deep cycle battery is more complicated you need an inverter, fuse and you need to understand the difference between a series and parallels connection but you get alot more power for you're money. 46 amp hours is plenty if you are spending an evening out with only basic camping supplies but if you are trying to live in you're Van 3 or 4 days a week like me and run a mini-fridge/laptop you need alot more than 46 amp hours.

In that case, how long must you run your car's engine to charge the power station call the way up? 10 minutes? 5 hours? I have NO idea. Thank you!

I appreciated your video. Straightforward, Factual, Concise. I looking to buy a Jackery unit. Ultimately I'll love to own the Explorer 1000 but that is above my budget level. At 70+ years old, I don't need much portable power when I'm van camping (fishing trips mostly). 370watt 12V or 450watt 12V Rice Cooker or RoadPro Wamer/Oven, an set of LED String Lights and a small USB Fan and my cell phone I'm GO TO GO. Would the Jackery 500 be able to handle those simple needs for a rainy day or an overnight trip? I love that Jackery is pretty much Plug and Play. No having to control it via a cell phone application. YOUR feedback would be most helpful and much appreciated. Thanks 😊!

I didn’t read the manual at all lmao. I just threw them away and plugged my jackfruit in. I zip tied a box fan to the top ceiling of my tent and it works perfectly. I also use T-Mobile Wi-Fi. Just plug it into the hackers and I have a conditioned tent with portable Wi-Fi.

He recommends getting the 500 to run a CPAP machine, but I have been using the 240 for quite a while with my CPAP and it has worked with zero issues. You definitely don't need the 500 for that.

I'll have to check out Jackerys as I have a Black/Decker brand now that has an inverter, compressor, USB charging, and battery jump starter that has helped me as well as other's that I have helped that needed a jump. These are great items that every car owner should have. This would make a great Christmas gift for those that have almost everything and appreciate it when they really need it. Power Stations to me are a great invention implementing the use of a portable battery power source.

Thanks! I just bought a 500 on Amazon. Good video and smart tips. I was interested before..., but as I have both a Tesla and half- of an older Van, it would probably be more for the Van... I checked the other brands, most of them advertise 'peak' output, so a '500' by anyone else is actually more equivalent to 250 in a Jackery.

I wonder what went sideways with my experience. I bought the “500” and it says it would power a 12v fridge of 60 w for 37 hours. I didn’t find that to be true. On maiden journey out, after less then 16 hours I found it has less than 6% left running my 45 w 12v fridge. And I had hoped to have had it recharging as I drove, but the plug came out , unbeknownst to me..😂 . It may be that I had the fridge on High the first night- I’m getting used to that too... but Jackery site Says 37 hours on a 60 w cooler....

@oceandrew 3 жыл бұрын
Every claim like the one you listed has to have a disclaimer that "your mileage may vary". I mean, do the maths. 500w can only run a 60w appliance for 8.33hrs full bore so if they tested it and ran it for 37hrs there had to be a lot of fiddling... err, I mean optimizing. Your temp setting, the thermal mass of the contents and its initial temp and the initial temp in the fridge all influence the consumption of power, especially the number of times you open the fridge to take something out. I bet that's why Tristan suggested buying the next larger Jackery than you think you need as your mileage will vary from the idealized settings during testing.

@@oceandrew ya, I know that now. I liked the plug & play idea and taking a 12v fridge/ freezer... I need to find the rest of the story on how to work it , all together to work for me better. Wish Jackery had a trade in or more real life information. KZfaqrs get us great ideas. I’m not great with electric equations
@oceandrew
@oceandrew 3 жыл бұрын
@@KG-cl9gv You may have better luck finding information on how to minimize the power draw from the fridge/freezer. I believe Tristan did get into that a bit when he first started plugging Jackery with his fridge set up.

More power equals more higher electronic device that uses high power electronic. And longer run time. The 300 suits me just perfect for everyday charging all my small electronic device. My next one will be the explorer 1500 watt for bigger appliances need as for now, the 300 is plenty enough for me.

I have been looking at the Jackery 500, but wasn't willing to fork over $500 for it. The 15% off deal pushed me over the edge and I ordered one. I have a DC fridge for camping and a pellet smoker at home that requires 110 and got tired of running an extension cord so I'm curious to see how it does.

I just bought a Rockpal generator setup. I purchase a 20 ft wire for the solar panal w appropriate connectors. So I can bring generator closer to my electronics. You may still need extention cord for inside depending on situations. I found out the plugs are not standardized and had to return long wires. Order wires after u get generator and panals.
